STATE JAKOB L. BERGVALL, OF NEW YORK, 1 l'.
Y., ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HAI'JF T ROLF DE TBENTINI, OF NEVJ YORK, N. Y.
TICKET Application filed January 25, 1921.
To (/U 1 72 om it may; concern.
Be it known that I. JAxon L. Bunovann,
a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city. in the county of New York and State of New York. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a holder or carrier for tickets or similar articles that are usually issued in strips or attached to each other and are to be torn off at the proper time in units or any suitable quantities of larger denominations.
One of the objects of the invention is to retain a number of tickets or strips of paper, pastboard, or similar material that can be folded up into small compass so as to adapt the same for easy and expeditious dispensing either singly or in a plurality of units.
Another object of the invention is to provide a holder or receptacle for tickets or the like which will. safely carry the same and prevent their becoming commingled or interfering with other articles that may be carried in the pocket.
Another object of the invention is to provide a holder of this sort which shall be cheapto manufacture, easy to carry and convenient to handle, and which shall hold the tickets, etc., so that they can be readily torn off in proper quantities.
The invention will be readily understood from the accompanying drawings and description. but it is to be understood that changes. variations. and modification may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims. In the drawings Fig. 1 is a plan view of the device.
Fig. 2 is a side view of the device.
Fig. is a sectional view on line :c-.r of F 1, the strip of tickets being shown stored therein F ig. 4 is a perspective view of the device the strip of tickets being shown stored therein Fig. 5 is a plan of one end of the box structure with the cover removed.
Fig. 6 is a section on line :1 of Fig. 5.
Fig. 7 is a plan View of a cover portion.
HOLDER.
Serial No. 439,737.
Fig. 8 is a side view of the same. In the drawings reference character 1 designates a rectangular box or receptacle which has one of its sides open. The box is provided with two partial covers or holders- 2 that are hinged on pintles 3 at the respective ends of the box 1 and are spring pressed by means of the springs 4: so as to cause the free ends of the holders 2 to be pressed inwardlytoward the bottom of the box. The holders 2 are each less than'half the length of the box, so that a short space is left between the ends of the two to permit the passage of the tickets, as is clearly indicated in Figs. 3 and 4E. The holders 2 are slightly narrower than the width of the box, and the ends thereof will firmly hold or retain the tickets 5 in their stored position. inside the box.
'The operation is as follows:
A strip of tickets or similar articles 5 will be folded up and placed inside the box 1,
as indicated in Figs. 3 and 4, with the end of the top ticketprojecting over one of the holders 2, both of'the spring pressed holders 2 acting to retain the folded tickets safely stored inside the box 1. When it is desired to use one of the tickets. the user pulls outwardly upon the projecting end of the ticket, whereupon the holder 2 will yield slightly, thus permitting the ticket to be entirely withdrawn from the box 1. If only one ticket is to be used, the user will then press upon the projecting end of the following ticket and tear off the first one, thus leaving the end of the second ticket projecting and ready to be grasped and withdrawn in the same manner as above described for the first ticket. If the user desires more than one ticket he simply continues to pull upon the end of the first ticket that was projecting until a sufficient number has been withdrawn. the holders 2 alternately yielding slightly to permit successive tickets to escape whereupon the user will press upon the end of the last ticket that becomes thereby partially withdrawn and will tear off the number that has been entirely withdrawn, still leaving the end of a successive ticket projecting and ready to be with drawn.
Having described my invention, what I springs pressing said covers to cause the claim as new and desire to secure by Letters free ends of said covers to bear against the Patent is: bottom of the box. 10
A receptacle which comprises a shallow In testimony whereof I affix my signa- 5 box, a pair of covers hinged at opposite ends ture.
of said box, the length of said covers being less than half the length ofisaid box and JAKOB L. BERGVALL.
