Gbtozmu;

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERIG PRATT, OF VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA.
BOILER ATTACHMENT.
Application fi1ed February 25, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Fnnnnnrc lV. PRATT,
a subject of the King of GreatBritain, residing at Vancouver, British Columbia, and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boiler Attachments, of which the following is a specilieation.
- The invention has for its primary object to devise novel means for utilizing a domestic boiler as means of support for drying and airing clothing or any other article which it may be designed to suspend near a heat radiating surface.
In accordance with the present invention a band is provided and adapted to be con veniently attached to a domestic boiler and a plurality of brackets retained in adjusted position by means of the band and forming supporting elements for receiving the articles to be suspended adjacent the boiler.
The drawings illustrate a preferred embodiment of the invention, however it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions, various changes in the form, proportion, and minor details of .construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Referring to the drawing hereto attached,
Figure 1 is a View in elevation of the upper portion of a domestic boiler with supporting means embodying the invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the attachment.
Fig. 3 is a sectional detail showing one of the brackets in elevation.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in the several views of thedrawings by like reference characters.
The numeral 1 designates a domestic boiler such as generally provided in a kitchen and connected with the range 150; band 2 is provided and embraces the boiler 1 and is adapted to be secured thereto in any manner. The band 2 usually consists of a metal strap of a length to encircle the boiler and provided at its ends with ofi'set elements which are apertured to receive a bolt 3 or like fastening. Angle lugs 4 are secured in any manner to the ends of the strap or band 2 and their outwardly extending portions receive the bolt or fastening 3. The band 2 is of a length and the angle lugs Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented F6124, 1920.
Serial No. 279,113.
l applied thereto in a manner to admit of the oflfstanding portions of the lugs 4 being spaced apart in a short distance when the band is in position on the boiler, whereby provision is had for tightening the band to prevent displacement thereof.
A plurality of brackets 5 are mounted upon the band 2 and are retained in place thereby. Each of the brackets '5 consists of an upright portion 6, an arm 7, brace 8 and overlapping ends 9, one of such ends terminating in a hooked bend which embraces the lower edge portion of the band 2. These several parts are shown most clearly in Fig. 3. Each bracket is formed from a length of strap metal which is doubled upon itself, the end portions being bent laterally to form the parts 7 and 8, and the folded portions being secured by means of a fastening 11.. The overlapping ends 9 extend in opposite directions and are confined between the side of the boiler 1 and the band 2. The hooked end 10 prevents any possible displacement of the bracket. It is to be understood that the required number of brackets are strung upon the band 2 preliminary to placing the fastening 3 in position after which the band is fitted about the boiler and is secured thereto by placing the bolt 3 in position and tightening the same to prevent any possible movement of the band or brackets. Before finally tightening the fastening 3, the brackets 5 are adjusted about the band so as to occupy the required position and after the fastening 3 has been tightened the parts will maintain the adjusted position.
The brackets provide supporting means for suspending articles of clothing to be aired and dried or they may receive any desired article required to be kept warm and in this connection it is to be understood that the brackets may receive a suitable shelf upon which dishes or other containers may be placed for holding food and drink to be warmed.
The foregoing description and the drawings have reference to what may be considered the preferred, or approved, rorm of my invention. It is to be understood that I may make such changes in construction and arrangement and combination of parts, materials, dimensions, et cetera, as may prove expedient and fall within the scope of the appended claims.
' Having thus fully described my inven tion, What I claim as new and desire to se cure by Letters Patent is '1. An attachment for a domestic boiler, comprising a band to be securedabout the boiler and brackets mounted upon the band, each comprising upper and lower members and oppositely extending overlapping portions disposed between the band and boiler and clamped thereby.
2. An attachment for a domestic boiler comprising a band to be secured about the boiler and brackets mounted upon the band,
each comprising upper and lower members engaging the top and bottom edges of the band and opposltely extending overlapping portions clamped between the band and boiler and having the portion adjacent the band terminating in a hook to engage the edge thereof.
In testimon whereof I aflix my signature in presence of tWO WitIIGSSGS.
