Description

M. C. CHARLES. PACKAGE TIE HOLDER. APPLICATION FILED act. 4, I919.
Patented J an. 6, 1920.
ammo;
MARIO CIAGLIA CHARLES, 0F JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY.
PACKAGE-TIE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. '6, 1920.
Application filed October 4, 1919. Serial No. 328,506.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARIO C. OHARLEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Package- Tie Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable' others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in devices for holding the ends of ropes for various purposes without the necessity of tying knots, and consists in the provision of a slmple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a art of this application, and in which:
igure 1 is a side elevation showing the application of my invention, Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view, Fig. 3 is a top plan view, Fig. 4 is a detail view showing the knotted end of the rope and the manner of folding the rope about pins in the holding device, and Figs. 5 and 6 are detail views showing different steps in the twisting of the rope. Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates an open ended tubular member preferably of metal, and at one end thereof is a plate B securely fastened thereto with an aperture formed therein in registration with the bore of the tubular member. E is a spring hook held securely to a laterally extending portion of said plate. Projecting from the plate C are three integral pins F spaced apart as shown, and each pin is provided with a head E. Said plate is provided with an aperture H through which the rope K passes, a knot L being tied in the rope to prevent its slipping through said hole.
In operation to tie a rope, one end of the latter is passed through the aperture H,
a knot tied in one end of the rope as shown, so that the latter will not draw through the hole. The rope is then passed through the cylindrical shell and about the pins and the free end of the rope caught under the spring hook as shown.
By the provision of adevice embodying the construction shown, it will be noted that a simple and eflicient means is provided, especially adapted for use upon lines of various kinds, swings, and means for holding scaffolding, etc., withoutthe necesv sity of tying knot-s to hold the rope.
What I claim to be new is:
A device for holding the ends of ropes, comprising an open ended tubular member with a lateral extension at one end thereof, headed pins projecting from said extension, and spaced apart, and a spring hook secured to the extension.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
MARIO OIAGLIA CHARLES.
