CHILD'S COMBIIIED ROTARY CHAIR AND PLAY-TABLE.
Specification of Letters Patent. P t t d Aug. 19, 1919.
Application filed July 5, 1917. Serial No. 178,729.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIDNEY J OB PococK, a subject of the King. of Great Britain and Ireland, and resident of Esher, county of Surrey, England, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Childrens Combined Rotary Chairs and Play-Tables,
of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a childs combined chair and play table, and consists essentially .of a base, a chair rotatably mounted on said base and a play table, which table may, according to one arrangement, be fixed to the base, the chair being rotatable in a central opening in said table, or said table may be suitably secured to said chair so as to rotate therewith.
The invention is illustrated by the accompanying sheets of drawings. Of the draw- 1I1gs: 1
Figure 1 is a plan view of the combined device with stationary play table and rotatable chair.
Fig. 2 is an elevation of said combined device, partly in section.
Fig. 3 is a detail view showing how the pillars which support the table detachably interlock with the latter and also with the ase.
Like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
In carrying out the invention, and dealin first with the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 2, there is provided a circular base a mounted on roller or 'ball casters 6,- said base a on its upper or tread surface 0 being provided with radiating ribs d. At a suitable height above said base,@ and carried by illars e mounted on the base is the play ta le proper, said table consisting of a wide annulus or fiat ring f provided on its outer periphery with a suitable. ard rail or fence g, and on its inner perip ery with an upstanding bead it, said guard rail or fence 9 and bead k serving to prevent toys placed on said table from being pushed from off the same, the diameter of the central opening i being such as to allow of the free rotation of the chair j therein on the child pushin against the ribs d on the base a, or against the tread surfaces 0 thereof.
The chair 3' is centrally and rotatably mounted on the base a, a preferred arrangement being a central vertical pillar 70 on the top of which the chair is detachably mounted in any suitable manner.
The playtable f and its guard rail or fence 9 is made in halves, hingedly connected together as at m so as to fold up when detached from the supporting pillars which screw into both table and base, and further,
the chair supporting pillar maybe detachably fixed so as to be readily dismantled for packing or stonage purposes.
The combined article may be made wholly of wood, or partly of wood and metal, or 1n any suitable material, and the constructional details may be varied without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is A childs collapsible rotary chair and play table device comprising in combination, a base, a plurality of radially disposed traction ribs thereon, a two-part annullar table hingedly connected together, inner and outer rims for the table, illars for detachably securing the base an talble together, a central stationary chair supporting post, a chair dctachably mounted in said post and having a back extending above the inner rim of the table.
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SIDNEY JOB POCOCK.
