Be it known that I, ARTHUR J. Manson, a citizen-of the United States, and resident of Glenbeulah, in the county of Sheboygan and State of IVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cheese-Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

My invention relates to cheese holders, and has particular reference to a device of this kind which may be used for holding cheeses from the time they are taken from the press until they are ready for the market.

It is generally considered the best practice, and in fact the statutes in some States require, that cheeses be allowed to cure for some days after they are taken from the press. The cheeses when they come from the press are more or less green and pliable, and liable to get out of shape and present an unattractive appearance unless some means is provided to prevent this. This is especially true of the type commonly known as Longhorn cheese, which is cylindrical in shape with the axis of the cylinder relatively long compared with its diameter.

The object of this invention, therefore, is to provide means for holding these cheeses in a convenient manner, and in such a way that the correct shape will be preserved.

Another object of the invention is to provide an article of this kind which will be sanitary and attractive in appearance, and will, at the same time, be comparatively cheap in cost and convenient to handle.

My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

The device is preferably formed from pressed sheet metal and consists of two cylindrical segments 10 and 11, which are of a shape to correspond with the shape of the cheese to be handled. Thes cylindrical segments are integrally connected by the horizontal web 12, the edges 13 and 14 being somewhat rounded. The cheeses are placed in the device as indicated at C. Here they are permitted to cure, and may be turned from time to time.

Hitherto the cheeses have been laid on their side on a flat surface, in which case they lose their proper rounded appearance, or they have been stood on their ends in which case they are likely to become lopsided. It will thus be seen that I have provided a device by which the cheeses may be handled without in any way injuring their attractive appearance. Any number of the holders may be stored away when not in use.

I claim as my invention.

1. A device of the character described formed from resilient sheet material comprising a plurality of segments of cylindrical surfaces, all of said segments having their concave sides facing in the same direction with the same radii of curvature, and their axes parallel, and a web integrally connecting the adjacent edges of said cylindrical segments.

2. A device of the character described formed from resilient sheet material comprising a plurality of segments of cylindrical surfaces, all of said segments having their concave sides facing in the same direction with the same radii of curvature, the axes of the cylindrical surfaces being parallel and at a greater distance from each other than the sum of the two radii, and a web integrally connecting the adjacent edges of said cylindrical segments.

3. A holder for cheeses comprising a plurality of segments in parallel relation, each segment being of a size and shape to fit snugly one side of a cheese, the adjacent sides of the segments being integrally connected by a web of suflicient width so that the cheeses held in said se ments will be spaced apart.
