To all whom it may concern:
In describing this invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawings,'in which like characters designate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is an elevation of a guy anchor embodying my invention, the wing being shown as folded against the rod of said anchor.
Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1, the upper portion of the rod being broken away 7 and the wing being shown in longitudinal section and as in its unfolded position;
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the wing.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged detail view of the lower end of the rod.
This guy anchor comprises a rod and a wing foldably mounted on the rod into a position along the rod and into a position at an angle to the rod in order to obstruct the pulling of the anchor out of the ground after the rod with the wing thereon has been driven in the ground, and pulled out far enough to spread the wing, one of said parts being formed with a slot through which the other of said parts extends and the latter part being formed with shoulders for limiting the tilting movement of the wing.

In this latter construction, the inner end portion of the socket is enlarged in order that during the driving of the rod into the ground the end of the shank in the socket will be spread or riveted in the socket and hold the head from detachment, or as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 1 the point may be threaded into the major part of the rod.
In operation, the rod is driven into the ground and then pulled outwardly'causing the wing 2 to move from the position shown in F 1g. 1 to that shown in Fig. 2, in which the base 3 assumes an inclined position relatively to the rod, and the end walls of the slot & engage the rod or the ends of the base engage the shoulders 5, 6.
What I claim is: V
1. A guy anchor comprising a rod having a point at its advance end and a wing foldably mounted on the rod to the rear of the point and foldable into a position along the rod and into the position at an angle to the rod, the wing being formed with a base rigid therewith which coacts with the rod, one of said parts being formed with a lengthwise slot and the other of said parts extending through the. slot and having shoulders spaced apart at the rear of the point, the slot and the shoulders being. ar-
ranged to permit an endwise and rocking a position approximating a right angle to the rod.
2. A guy anchor comprising a rod having a point at its advance end, and a wing foldably mounted on the rod in the rear of the point and foldable into a position along the rod'and into a position at an angle to the rod, the Wing being formed With a base rigid With the blade of the Wing and arranged at an angle to the blade of the Wing and formed With a lengthwise slot for receiving the rod and the rod being formed: With shoulders spaced apart for permitting tilting of the base and limiting the tilting movement thereof When the blade of the Wing assumes a position approximating a position at a right angle to the rod, substantially as and for the purposedescribed.
3. A guy anchor comprising a rod having shoulders thereon spaced apart and a point in advance of the lower sh0ulder,-a Wing having a base rigid therevvith and mounted on the rod between the shoulders and having a'slot for receiving the portion of the vrodcbetween the shoulders, the base being of less thickness than the distance between the shoulders and the base being arranged at an angle to the blade of the Wing, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
