UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN A. SMITH, or WASHINGTON, nrs'rnror or COLUMBIA" ELECTRIC SIGNAL FOR AUTOMOBILES AND OTHER VEHICLES.
Application filed October 3, 1918.
ments in electric signals adapted to be used in connection with automobiles and similar vehicles, and the object of the invention is 'to provide suitable means for signaling,
when necessary when the automobile is in use.
lVith these ends in view the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of the several parts as will be hereinafter more particularly and in detail described and the asserted novelty specifically claimed.
I have clearly and fully illustrated my invention in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 represents a plan view of a representation of a human hand with the illuminating means positioned therein.
Fig. 2 represents a horizontal section taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
In the accompanying drawings to which reference is had, A designates a representation of a hand, which is formed of a hollow, body of some transparent material.
B designates a multiple number of incan descent lamps located one within each fin er, the thumb and palm of the representation of the hand to which the current is fed, through the medium of conductor wires, in circuit with each lamp, and connected with Specification of Letters Patent.

C designates a multiple number of supports for supporting the lamps located below each lamp and engaging the plugs thereof as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
This signal is particularly adapted for use at night, whereby the operator after connecting the terminal posts of the signal hand with the source of current, by extending the signal, which is brilliantly lighted by the arrangement of lights therein is able tonotiiy approaching or following vehicles of a con templated change of direction.
