BENJAMIN R. MORRISON, or WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLiNA.
' TOOTHBRUSH-HOLDER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN ROBERT MORRISON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Wilmington, in the county of New Hanover and State ofNorth Caro-.
container together with a supporting clamp therefor which supports the container at a convenient point for use. I
It is also within the provisions 'of the invention to provide a tooth brush container employing a removable cover which is associated with the locking hail of novel con'-- structionthat retains the cover tightly en gaged with the container.
With the preceding and other objects that Y may become apparent and from the following disclosure the invention consists in the novel combinatlon of elements, constructions which will be hereinafter set forth, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing wherein Figure 1 is an elevationfof a tooth brush holder or container constructed in accordance with my invention,
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same, and
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 1. I
Referring ,in detail to the drawings, wherein like characters designate corresponding parts throughout the I several views, the numeral 5 designates a tubular receptacle provided witha bell shaped closure or cap 6. The open end of the receptacle 5 is bevel-ed upon its inner faceas at 7 while the outer face of the lower end of the closure or cap 6 is beveled as indicated at 8. The beveled surface of the receptacle 5 and the cap or closure 6 afford a tight joint and thus prevents entrance of air or germs into the receptacle at this point. The bot- Specification of Letters latent. I l 'atentd 22 1921 Application filed June 16, 1920. Serial No. 389,378 v tacle and permitsthe bottom to be readily reached for cleaning purposes.
An annular shoulder 9 is formed exteriorly of the receptacle 5 below the upper end thereof and encircling the receptacle below the annular shoulder is a band 10 formed with cars 11 at diametrically opposite points. The upper end of the cap or closure 6 is formed with a boss 12 provided with an opening 13 that extends parallel to the transverse axis of. the container.
An inverted U-shaped bail is engaged in the opening 13 and the legs of this bail extend downwardly along the sides of the re ceptacle 5 at points in alinement with the cars 11. A bowed lever 14, formed from a length of wire 15, normally embraces one side of the receptacle and is formed with eyes 16 disposed upon the opposite side of the receptacle at points diametrically opposite each other. The wire from the lever is extended upwardly from the eyes 16 to which the U-shaped bail are pivotally connected lowering the lever to the position. illustrated a .in Fig. 1 the cap inclosure will be drawn tightly into engagement with the receptacle. tions and arrangement of parts and opera- 7 5 as illustrated in the drawings and retains the same in an upright position.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herein shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention. what I claim as new and desire to secure and rotect by Letters Patent of the United tates is:
A tooth brush holder including a tubular body open at one end and having the inner face of the open end beveled, a hollow 010-- sure having its outer face beveled at one end to interfit into the beveled end of the tubular body, a boss formed on the outer end of the closure and provided with a transverse openin a U-shaped bail passing loosely the closure upon contacting with the beveled throug the opening in the boss and having edges of the body upon the movement of the its legs disposed parallel to the sides of the lever to draw the closure into engagement 10 bod a lever havlng pivotal connection with V with the body, serving to shift the closure 5 the 0d and extremlties of the bail whereon the U-shapcd bail to center the closure by to raw the closure into tight engageto cause the same to seat evenl in the body. ment with the body, the beveled edges of BENJAMIN R. M RRISON.
