Description
J. R. WILLIAMS. CAM FOR RING SPINNING AND DOUBLING FRAMES AND THE LIKE.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 4, I920. 1,366,442.
Illll 9 Patented Jan. 25, 1921.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN ROBERT WILLIAMS, 0F ROCHDALE, ENGLAND.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 25, 1921.
Application filed June 4, 1920. Serial No. 386,515.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Join: Ronnn'r WIL- LIAMS, subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, and resident of Rochdale, in the county of Lancaster, England, have invented certain Improvements in Cams for Ring-Spinning and Doubling Frames and the like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention consists of an attachment adapted for use on a cam for increasing its lift, and constructed as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
My invention will be fully described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which,
Figure 1, is a side elevation of a cam showing the application of one form of my invention thereto,
Fig. 2, plan of same partly in section.
My invention is designed to accomplish the object aforesaid, in one case by utilizing the existing cams a for controlling the lifting rail and consists in attaching to such cams one or more brackets I) designed to be secured to the side of the .cam by a screw 0 or bolt. Each of these brackets overlaps the edge of the cam' and is shaped at its outer end so as to form an inclined surface d at one side in the direction in which the cam rotates and a declining surface 6 at the other, so that the ring rail is caused to rise and fall sharply at one or more points in its vertical traverse to give a cross winding effect to the yarn. The ordinary bowl which the cam operates is not shown in the drawing.
hat I claim is:
The combination, with a cam having a curved lifting edge, of an attachment for increasing the lift comprising a curved plate shaped to fit over a portion of the curved lifting edge of the cam, said plate being thickest at its middle part and tapering to thin edges at its ends, said plate having on one side and at the middle part 7 of its length a bracket which bears against the side of the cam, and a fastening device for securing the said bracket to the cam.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN ROBERT WILLIAMS.
Witnesses:
WILLIAM HALL, LILIAN FAVELL.
