PIPE-WRENCH.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR CLARENCE HUSSON, of the township of Snider, in the district of Sudbury, in the Province of ()ntario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pipe-Trenches, of which the following is the specification.

My invention relates to improvements in pipe wrenches, and the object of the invention is to devise a pipe wrench in which the use of nuts will be entirely dispensed with while in no way impairing the adjustability of the same; a further object is to construct a pipe Wrench which can be manufactured more cheaply than those at present in use.

My invention consists of a handle member having one side face serrated, an upper jaw having a depending shank pivotally mounted in a slot in the upper end of the handle member, a member slidable on the handle member, and a lower jaw pivoted to the slidable member and having a depending tine-like portion adapted to engage the serrations on the handle member, all as hereinafter more particularly described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a pipe wrench constructed according to my in-- vention, and

Fig. 2 is an elevation taken at right angles to Fig. 1.

From the above description it will be seen that a pipe wrench constructed. according to my invention will be readily adjustable to suit any size of pipe, and such pipe can. be released by merely moving back the upper jaw 2 until the depending shank 3 comes in contact with the wall of the slot 4:.

What I claim as my invention is A pipe wrench comprising a handle memher having suitable serrations on one face thereof, said handle member having a slot ted upper end open at the top and. on the side thereof opposite the serrated side and closed on the serrated side of the handle member for constituting a stop, an upper jaw having a depending portion extending into the said slot andqpivotally connected the handle member, said depending portion engaging the closed wall or the slot in the upper end of the handle member, member slidable on the handle member, a lower jaw pivotally connected to the sliding member and a depending tine like portion engaging the serration on the handle member.
