which is simple and economical to manufacture and which is capable of being quickly and easily placed inposition for use.
Illustrative embodiments of this invention are shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of support constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a modified form of device which is provided with base 'lianges to afford a more stable bearing of the device on the falsework, and which is also provided with fingers adapted to secure the reinforcing bar'in its seat.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the modification shown in Fig. 2, with the reinforcing bar secured in place thereon.
The embodiments herein shown comprise a piece of metal 1 doubled upon itself to pron vide arms 2 and 3 extending in the same general direction and adapted to stand on end with 4the bend 4 disposed vertically. The upper edges of the parts 2 and 3 are recessed so as to provide a seat 5 in which the reinforcing bar is adapted to rest. The width `of the piece of metal 1 from which the device is formed may be varied, and likewise the depth of the notches whereby the seat 5 is formed, so that'the reinforcing bar will be located any desired distance above the falsework. Also, the length of the piece of material l may be varied so as to provide 'the desired amount of bearing surface of y the parts 2 and 3 upon the falsework and allow for forming a seat 5 of the desired size to accommodate reinforcing bars of various diameters.
In order to increase the bearing surface of the parts 2 and 3 and thereby insure a greater stability of the support upon the falsework, transversely disposed flanges 6 may be formed at the lower or bottom edges of the parts 2 and 3 as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.. Notches 7 may be formed in the flanges 6 so as Ato allow for the use of fastening means to rigidly secure the supporting means in fixed relation on the falsework.
By the use of fingers 8 and 9, the reinforcing bar may be locked on the seat 5.
Inthe modification shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the lingers 8 and 9 are integrally formed on the parts 2 and 3 on respectively opposite sides of the seat 5 so that for locking the bar upon the seat 5, said fingers are bent inwardly toward each other into the positions shown in Fig. 3.
As will be obvious, other modifications may be made and those shown may be further modified or altered or have details thereof omitted without departing from the spirit of this invention as defined by the following claims.
I claim:
l. A device of the class described, comprising a piece of metal doubled upon itself to provide a pair of parts closely positioned relative to each other and extending substantially in a nearly parallel direction, whereby said device is adapted to stand on end with the bend vertically disposed, said parts haiping their upper edges recessed to provide a-.horizontally disposed seat for a reinforcing bar.
2. A device of the class described, comprising a piece of metal doubled upon itself to provide a pair of parts closely positionedl relative to each other and extending in a nearly parallel direction, whereby said device is adapted to stand on end with the bend vertically disposed, said parts having their upper edges recessed to provide a seat for a reinforcing bar, and means on said device adapted to contact directly with said bar for securing the same on said seat.
3. A device of the class described, comprising a piece of metal doubled upon itself to provide a pair of parts closely positioned relative to each other and extending in a nearly parallel direction, whereby said device is adapted to 4stand on .end with the bend vertically disposed, said parts having their upper edges recessed to provide a seat for a reinforcing bar, and a finger integrally formed on one of said parts and adapted to be bent into position to bear upon the top of lsaid bar so as to lock the same on said seat.

A device of the class described, comprising a piece of metal doubled upon itself to provide a pair of parts closely positioned relative to each other and extending inv a nearly parallel direction, whereby said device is adapted to stand on end With the bend vertically disposed, said parts having their upper edges recessed to provide a seat for a reinforcing bar, and fingers on each of said parts adapted to be bent into position to bear upon the top of said bar so as to lock the same to said seat.
5. A device of the class described, comprising a piece of metal doubled upon itself to provide a pair of parts closely positioned relative to each other and extending in a nearly parallel direction, whereby said device is adapted to stand on end With the bend vertically disposed, said parts having their upper edges recessed to provide a seat for a reinforcing bar, and fingers integrally formed on each of said parts on respectively opposite sides of said seat and adapted to be bent into position to bear upon the top of said bar so as to lock the same on said seat.
