Description

ALEXANDER F. KRUSCI-IKE, OF MELVIN, ILLINOIS.
SIGN-BOARD.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 9, 1.920.
Application filed September 24, 1919. Serial No. 325,877.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALEXANDER F. Knusorrnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Melvin, in the county of Ford, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sign-Boards; and I do hereby declare the following to be I a full, clear, and exact description of the improved sign board which is equipped with novel and improved means for holding notices.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a sign board made in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged vertical sectional view taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1, through one of the holding frames to show the springlhinges and latch for the frame.
Beferr' g particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents a pair of uprights each of which is provided with the transversely extending feet portions 11 whereby said uprights will be maintained in vertical position. Between these uprights there is disposed a large board 12, the opposite veizg'zal edges of which are provided with tr nions 13for engagement in the bearings 14 in the uprights for permitting pivotal movement of the board on the uprights. Carried by the inner vertical edge face of each of the uprights is an inwardly extending lug or pin 15 which is arranged to engage with the rack arm-16 which is pivotally carried by the vertical. edge face of the board. By means of these rack arms and the said lugs or pins, the board can be tilted to assume any desired angle and there held.
Secured on the front face of the board are a number of rectangular .or otherwise shaped frames 17, said frames being attached to the board at their lower edges by means of the spring hinges l8. Carried by the face of the board above each of the frames is a spring latch 19 adapted to engage over the upper portion of the frame to hold the same firmly against the face of the board and to properly and smoothly hold a sheet of paper, having the desired printing thereon, in a fiat condition against the face of the board.
By this construction the old notice or sign can be readily and quickly removed and the new one put in its place. Also. if desired, the old notice can be retained by the frame, in a position directly behind the new S1011.
What is claimed is:
In a sign board, the combination with a pair of uprights having feet at their lower ends and bearings at their upper ends, and
rack bars pivoted to said uprights below their bearings; of a board between the uprights and having trunnions iournaied in said bearings, pins on the board for en gagement with said rack bars to hold the board at the desired position, frames hinged at their lower ends to the face of the board, and spring latches for holding their upper ends against such face, for thepurpose desired.
In testimony whereof I aifx my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ALEXANDER F. KRUSOHKE.
Witnesses PAUL KRUSCHKE, HARRY KnosoHKE.
