pending downwardly from the ring 16 is a series of vertically disposedpipes 19, the lower ends of which pass through apertures 2O in a ring 21, which ring maintains the lower ends of the vertical pipes 19 k,and prevents bending and jamming of the' same.
The vlower ends, of the pipes 19 are closedl byV caps 22, thereby preventing the water from passing out of the ends of the pipes.k
The inner-faces of the pipes 19 are providedwith a series of apertures 23 through whichthe jets of water under pressure are forced against the surface of the cylindrical member 1, thereby .preventingthe jamming and collection of dirt orrm'ud on the same Vand also allowingT the pile asv a vwhole to be easily lowered. into the hole formedby 1 *The operation is as follows. Referring to Fig. 5 it will `be seen thatA the structure is practically the same as'that shown in Fig. 3 except thattlie pipes 8 aren connected by horizontally disposedpipes 8a andthe yapezred end of the pipe being closed by ycement as atV 8b: vPipes Sand 8a may be,`perfo`rated if so desired. It hasj been found in some` cases that a closed A'end f is desirable. However, it is to be understood` that the pile may be conltructed 'with a ;iclosed;'end,- an open end or if so' desired the water conducting means may be embedded in a solid pile.
