TALLY- CARD.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 28, 1920.
Application led May 5, 1917. Serial No. 166,576.
To all whom t may concern: A
Be it known that I, WILLIAM W. WHITE, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the-borough of Manhattan, in the city and State of New York, have invented a new and useful improvement in Tally-Cards, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a set of tally cards for use in connection with progressive games, such as progressive card games, each card bearing marks which will indicate to the particular playerv holding that card the position which the said player' is to occupy at each of a series of tables 'for a predetermined number of games so that there need be no confusion in the shifting of the player from one table to another and also so that the said player may be enabled to play with each of the other players if so desired during the progress of the games.
It is also desirable that each of the tally cards should indicate the partner for the said player at each of said tables for each of said games and it is also desirable that each tally card should also indicate the arrangement of all of the players at each of said tables for each oi: said games.
desired, the set of tally cards may be divided into two groups, one group bearing odd numbers for use, for instance, by the ladies, and the other group bearing even numbers for use, for instance, by the gentlemen.
A A. practical embodiment of my invention is represented in the accompanying drawings, in which ligure l represents a tally card for player No. l, and
Fig. 2 represents a tally card for player No. 2.
It is to be understood that the set of cards Will correspond in number to the number of players in the particular group for Which the set of cards is intended.
The card is denoted by a and it is provided With a numeral b indicating the number of the player. It is also provided With a series of table columns c arranged in one direction and a series of game columns l crossing the table columns and thereby forming sub-divisions.
In the present instance, Where the tally card is arranged for three tables and siX games, there are three table columns and six game columns forming eighteen sub-divisions. Each of these sub-divisions bears marks, in the present instance numerals, indicating, lirst, the position which the player holding the tally card is to occupy at that particular table for that particular game; second, the position which the said players partner is to occupy at that particular table and that particular game; and third, the arrangement of all of the players for that particular table and that particular game.
ln the present instance, the arrangement is such that each player will play with each or the other players as a partner during the series of games.
It the tally cards are to be used in connection with a very large game party, the sets of cards may be arranged in groups for any desired number of players.
In this instance, the card may bear the indication of the group number indicated From the above description, it will be seen that each tally card bears a graphic illustration which Will eliminate all confusion and will materially assist each player in locating the player at the proper position With respect to his or her partner and the op ponent.
It is to be understood that the embodiment shown and described herein is only one of many different embodiments of my invention; hence I do not Wish to limit myself strictly to the structure herein set forth, but
`What I claim is l. A set of tally cards, each card bearing marks indicating to the player holding that card the'position the said player is to occupy at each of a series of tables for a predetermined number of games and the arrangement of all of the players at each of said tables for each of said games.
2. A set of tally cards, each card having table columns and game columns bearing marks indicating to the player holding that card the position the said player is tooiccupy at each of a series of tables' for a vpredetervforming sub-divisions bearing marks indi- 10 eating toV the player holding `that card the position the said player is to occupy at each of a4 series of tables for a predetermined number of games and the arrangement of all of the'players .ateaohV of said tables V:for each of said games.
In testimony that 'I claim the foregoing as my invention, Ihave signed my name this 2nd day of' May, 1917.
