First, my invention consists of a steel plate, the general form and shape being shown in Figure 1, the dimensions not being more than onesixteenth part of an inch in thickness, and from one and one-half to two inches in breadth in its broadestpart, and from six to seven inches in length. Second, upon this plate, Fig. 1, is a smaller, movable index-plate of metal, oval in form, and of suitable size and thickness, Fig. 1, J, to be moved laterally on a pivot, indicated thus, 0, Fig. 1, K. Third, the letters 0 c c c, Fig. 1, represent a serrated edge, the several serratures being sharpened, and graduated in length from one-half inch to one and one-half inch, respectively. Fourth, the letter m, Fig. 1, also represents a sharpened edge, with a graduated scale of nine equal sixteenth parts of an inch cut upon the surface, as shown, Fig. 1, by means of which, and by an adjustment 'ot' the index-plate, Fig. 1, J, any desired width of the sharpened edge, Fig. 1, m, may be obtained. Fifth, the sharpened edges 0 0 c c and m, above referred to, are intended to be used in scraping off the wet paint from the outer edge or border of canvas painted upon, in order to obtain a clean surface or border of any desired width, surrounding a picture or painting, as represented in Fig. 2. b b, and Fig. 3, d d. Sixth, the sharpened edges 12 1) p, Fig. 4, are intended to be used for the purpose of scraping and cleaning the pallet, as represented in Fig. 4.
I claim as 1nyinvention The sharpened edges 1) p 12 and m, as above described, and also the serrated and sharpened edges 0 c c c, with the movable ovalshaped metallic index-plate, Fig. 1. J, in combination with the graduated scale m, Fig. 1, as above described, and shown in the drawing.
