S0151 AND APPLICATOR- HOLDER Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 27, 1920.
Application filed April 19, 1919. Serial No. 289,166.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that 1, CHARLES A. lVlAHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wallowa, in the county of 'lVallowa and State of Oregon, have invented new and useful Combination Soap and Applicator Holders, of which the following is a specification. I
This invention relates to tonsorial appliances, and more particularly to a cevice for holding a stick of shaving soap which may be readily removed for application to the face and-having means contained within said device for rubbing the applied soap into. a lather.
The object is to provide such a holder or container which will keep a stick of soap in. a sanitary, condition, said holder havinga removable cap formed to be readily I grasped by the hand and carrying a lathering device which, when the cap is secured in position upon the holder, is housed within the latter and is ready for instant use when removed therefrom. Y
,A full and complete understanding 0 the invention may be obtained from a, consideration of the following detailed descrip-.' tion, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification; it being understood that while the drawing shows a practical form of the invention, the latter is not confined to strict conformity therewith, but may be changed or modified, so long as such changes or modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention, as specifically pointed out-in the appended claims. In the drawing, in which similar refer-- ence characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several figures Figure l is a perspective view of the combination shaving soap and applicator holder with the cap screwed in position thereon.
is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the same.
Fig. 3 is detail perspective view of the removed and more clearly illustrating the applicator carried thereby.
The present invention is designed to overcome the annoyance caused by the necessity of havingseparate receptacles or containers for shaving soap and shaving brush, during the operation of shaving. T1115 annoyance.
is especially apparent'whentraveling, as the two containers necessarily. occupy more space in traveling bag or trunk, one being often carried along while'the other is forgotten, and in crowded wash rooms on trains and cran'iped state rooms aboard ship, the care of and proper cleansing of a few parts or containers has been found advantageous.
single sheet of thin metal, the point of junc ture providing an annular, interiorgroove for the reception of a paper disk 3 seated within said groove and thus prevented from jarring loose from such sea-t. -An inner tubular lining 4: of paper is placed within the tube 1, and such paper lining, together with the disk 3 are adapted to prevent corrosion of the inner walls of the receptacle by contact with the stick of soap, indicated at 5, as well as to preserve the sanitary condition of said stick of soap. The features thus far described form no part of my invention, and I do not wish to be restricted thereto.
At the top, open end, the tube 1 is stamped or pressed into a thread 6 into which is adapted to be screwed the depending threaded portion 7 of a metallic cap 8, produced likewise of thin sheet metal and having intermediate its height, an annular milled rib 9, formed by pressing the metal outwardly in a well-known manner and adapted to facilitate the screwing or unscrewing action of the cap in applying or removing the same.
The upper portion of the cap member, above the milled rib 9 is formed into an upstanding knob 10 of any desired contour or formation and adapted to form a handle to be grasped by thejhand of the operator,
while in the act of lathering the face, in a manner to beexplained.
. A latheritig device, formed of rubber having a solid or homogeneous base portion 11 and. provided with peripheral threads is adapted to be screwed into the threads of
