To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, GEORGE M. TATUM, a

citizen of the United States, residing at Media, in the county of Delaware and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rubber Balls, of which the following is a specification.

v This invention relates to improvements in rubber balls and may also be applied to hollow spheres or globes constructed of any thin or light material such as celluloid for instance and has for its principal object the insertion of a metallic ring in the lnterior thereof so as to cause the sphere to return to the person who may roll same from him.

Another object of the invention is to proternally thereof which is situated to one .side of thesphere and adapted to receive a metallic strip so that when the sphere is rolled so that "said strip will be in a vertical position it will be seen that weight thereof will turn the sphere tothe side to which it is set from the center of the sphere.

vBy ing, -'t will be seen that 1 designates the sphere or ball which may be constructed of any desired 1i ht and thin as well as flexible material and prefer to use rubber forso constructing same. Upon the interior 6- riphery of the sphere l I have provided a circular thickened portion 2 which is situated to one side of the center of the sphere taken on the line 2- -2 .for a purpose to be hereinafter set forth.

This thickened portion 2 is provided with a channel for receiving the metallic strip 3.

' The metallic strip 3 it should be understood oove formed 1n-- referring to the accompanying drawis constructed of material having sufiicient weight so that when the sphere is motionless the plane of the circular strip 3 will be horizontal. In order to indicate to the operator of this sphere or ball where the location of thestrip 3 lies, I wouldprefer to have a corresponding strip painted upon the exterior periphery of the sphere. This however is not absolutely necessary as it will be readily understood that when the ball is constructed of rubber or some such similar flexible material the position ofthe strip 3 may be readily ascertained by the sense of touch. From the above description it will be seen that the strip 3 is situated so as to be to one side'of the center of the sphere so that when same is placed in a vertical position and the ball or sphere rolled, the same will have a tendency to turn to the side upon which is situated the strip 3 and return to the operator. This toy ball .may undoubtedly be put to other amusing uses which it is not necessary here to disclose. It will also be understood that I have set forth the preferred embodiment of the invention and that I may make such changes in arrangement and construction as will fall within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is v 1. An elastic ball of the class described having a metallic stri situated interiorly thereof and means for holding said strip to one side of the center of said ball.

2. A sphere of the classdescribed having a circular thickened portion situated inteportion of the sphere heavier than its other portions.
