This invention relates to an automatic regu# lator for hot water heating systems, and the inventionconsists in the construction and combination of parts substantially as hereinafter shown and described and more particularly pointed out in the claims.

The plunger 13 has a valvei15 rigid therewith and adapted to seat downward upon seat 21 in the casing 21. The toprwall of body B connects the two casings or portions 10` and 21 therein and is provided with a duct 27 leading from one casing to the other for a purpose hereinafter described. A spiral spring 14 is seated on valve 15 in the casing and the extension 28 above the same, as shown, and which extension or cap corresponds to capf29 and serves as a housingv for said spring and normally holds the valve 15 and its plunger 13 on their respective seats, the said plunger being seated at 23 within the casing 13. The opposed end surfaces of the. two valves 17 the opposed surfaces of the valve 17 and the plunger 10V also have the same area, so that the pressure on bothv valves, and the pressure within the receptacle is also equal on the plunger and the upper end of valve 17. The opposedend surfaces of plunger 13 and valve 15 are also of equal area to counterbpalance the pressure from within the regulator. Thesaid plungers and springs, furthermore, are so .ar-l

valves and seats therefor relatively above 4ingaupon. said plunger and adapted to depress said valves from their seats, in combination with a valve and a plunger connected therewith having equal areas exposed to the water in said body and controlling said relief opening, a spring pressingupon said relief valve and plunger and a duct leadingfrom the interior of said body into the chamber beneath said plunger.`
