To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JosEr PLrcrrrA, a subject of the Emperor of Austria, and a resident of Uj-Pest, in the Kingdom of Hungary, (whose post-office address is Uj-Pest, Hungary,) have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spinning-Machines for Making Paper Yarn, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to machines for making paper yarn of any kind with or without textile fibers and more especially to such machines where the material to be spun is moistened before twisting. The invention consists in that the one of the feeding rolls, preferably the upper one, is devised in such manner that each paper strip or thread is laterally accessible and removable from between the feeding rolls; another feature of the invention resides in that the means for moistening the material situated before the feeding rolls consist of a single roll over i which the material is passed to be moistened, such means being arranged preferably in or below the tangential plane of the feeding rolls, which arrangement facilitates the lateral introduction of the paper strips between the feeding rolls and the lifting of the paper strips off the moistening roll when desired. Furthermore, according to the invention, each single strip of paper, can be led, by means of a tension device, in such a manner, that either it is in contact with the moistening roll or is lifted from the same, the whole set of the tensioning devices permitting preferably of being rocked simultaneously.
In the drawings one embodiment of the invention is shown in front view and side view respectively.
1 is the paper roll wherefrom" the strips or filaments 2 of paper are conveyed first over a moistening roll 3, then between the feeding rolls 4:, 5 and finally delivered to the spindle 6. In order to obtain a proper joint of the torn ends of the paper strip without causing bulkiness or knots at the place of joint, according to the invention the one cylinder of the feeding cylinders, preferably the upper one 5 is formed in such manner (Fig. 2) that each paper strip is laterally accessible with respect to the feeding rolls and thereby the joint formed by twisting together the two ends of. the torn paper or the like may be brought between the feeding cylinders. For this purpose the upper cylinder 5 consists of a plurality of sets 5 5 5 5 each set being journaled at its central part and containing preferably two rolls for two paper strips, the interstice between neighboring sets being left wide enough, to allow of lateral introduction of the paper between the feeding rolls. The moistening roll is arranged in or below the tangential plane of the feeding rolls, in order to facilitate the lateral introduction of the paper between the feeding u rolls. The individual strips may be conducted by means of individual tensioning devices in such manner that either they are in contact with the moistening roll or are lifted from the same. With the embodiment shown, the tension device consists of a lever 7, equipped with two guide rolls 8, 9, the one roll 8 being preferably arranged adjustably in order to control the tension of the paper.
The guide "rolls, on which the strips are laterally accessible, are mounted in different heights, suchwise, that the paper is out of contact with the moistening roll, if the strip is led from the roll 1 first over the lower roll 9 and then over the upper roll 8 (Fig. 1 to the right) such guidance of the paper recommending itself if, for example, threading on a torn strip in order to avoid undue moistening of the paper and to prevent thereby a repeated rupture of the same. 011 the contrary, if during the spinning procedure the strip is led over the upper roll 8 and then over the lower roll 9, then the paper is conveyed over the moistening roll to the feeding rolls (Fig. 1, to the left).
The individual tension devices are arranged upon a shaft 10. By rocking this shaft all tension devices may be rocked and together with them the paper strips moved in such away, that either they are in contact with the moistening roll or they are lifted from the sameaccording to the spinning machine being set to work or being stopped.
What I claim is: 1. In a spinning machine for the manufacture of paper yarn, twisting mechanism, feed-rollers for feeding strips of paper to the twisting mechanism, a moisteningdevice arranged in advance of said feed rollers, and a tension device, said tension device being adapted to lead the paper strips to said feedrollers either directly or with intermediate contact with said moistening device, said feed-rollers permitting of lateral access and removal of each individual paper strip to be fed thereby, whereby on breaking of a hand, and be disengaged from the moistening mechanism and led to the feed-rollers 'and' twisting mechanism in dry condition.
2. In a spinning machine for the manufacture of paper yarn, twisting mechanism, feed-rollers for feeding strips of paper to the twisting mechanism, a moistening de vice arranged in advance of said feed roll ers, and a tension device, said tension device being adapted to lead the paperstrips to said feed-rollers either directly or-with intermediate contact with said moistening device, said feed-rollers permitting of lateralaccess and removal of each individual paper strip to be fed thereby, whereby on breaking of a strip, the severed ends may be joined, the strip be disengaged from the feed-rollersto permit of twisting the ends together by hand, and be disengaged from the moistening mechanism and led to the feed-rollers and twisting mechanism in dry condition, said moistening device comprising a roller on or below a tangent passing through the point of contact'of the feedrollers. 3. In a spinning machine for the manufacture of paper yarn, twisting mechanism,
feed-rollers for feeding strips of paper to the twisting mechanism, a moistening device arranged in advance of said feed rollers, and a tension device, said tension device being adapted to lead the paper strips to said feed-rollers either directly or with intermediate contact'with said moistening device, said feed-rollers permitting of lateral access and removal of each individual paper strip to'be fed thereby, whereby on breaking of a strip, the severed ends may be joined, the strip 'be disengaged from the feed-rollers to permit of twisting the ends together by hand, and be disengaged from the moistening mechanism and led .to the feed-rollers and twisting mechanism in dry condition, said tension device comprising guides arranged at different heights, the paper when passing over the higher and lower in the order named, being brought into contact with the moistening roller, and
copies of this patent may be obtained for when passing over the lower and higher guide in the order named running to the feed-rollers clear of and without coming into contact with the moistening roller.
4:. In a spinning machine for the manufacture of paper yarn, twisting mechanism, feed-rollers for feeding strips of paper to the twisting mechanism, a moistening device arranged in advance of said feed-rollers, a plurality of tension devices, said tension devices being adapted to lead the paper strips to said feed-rollers, either directly or with intermediate contact with said moistening device, said feed-rollers permitting of lateral access and removal of each individual paper strip to be fed thereby, whereby on breaking of a strip, the severed ends may be joined, the strip be disengaged from the feed-rollers to permit of twisting the ends together by hand, and be disengaged from the moistening mechanism and led to the feed-rollers and twisting mechanism in dry condition, and means for simultaneously raising the tension devices whereby all of the paper strips may be removed at the same time from contact with the moistening rollers.
5. In a spinning machine for the manufacture of paper yarn, feeding rolls adapted to feed a plurality of paper strips, said feed rolls permitting of lateral access to each individual paper strip to be fed thereby, a moistening roll for moistening the paper before twisting, the paper to be twisted passing over the said moistening roll scribing witnesses.
