To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, AUGUST RAHNN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Elizabeth, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tool-Stocks; and l do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the Same.

In the drawing above briefly described. the numeral l designates a. straight one piece tool shank whose front end is shown equipped with an integral screw driver blade Q, whereas the rear end of said shank is provided with a fork 3 forming part. of a universal ioint. The other fork 4 of the universal joint, is carried by the front end of a straight one piece handle shank- 5, whose rear end is equipped with a hand grip 6 disposed in alinemennwith the body of the shank as shown. A connecting member T is received in the two forks 3 and 4 and pivoted thereto by pins-or the like 8 and 9 which are disposed at right angles to each other. By this arrangement, it will be obvious that the handle shank 5 mav be swung to any convenient angular relation in respect to the tool shank 1, yet that turning of the handle shank will operate the tool shank, regardless of the angle between the two, due to the universal joint.
Near its front end, the tool shank l is provided with a fixed collar 10, and between this collar and the fork 3, a one piece U- shaped metal yoke 1l is positioned, the parallel arms of said yoke having openings 12 through which the tool shank 1 passes rotatably, said arms bearing against the collar and fork so that relative shifting is prevented. The cross bar 13 of the yoke 11 preferably converges forwardly with the shank l as shown clearly in Fig. l, said bar being provided with a rigid laterally eX- tending hand grip 14 positioned at right angles thereto, said grip preferably having a lateral foot 16 secured by rivets or the like 17 to the cross bar 13, although it will be understood that any other suitable construction could well be employed.
ln operation7 the hand grip 14: is used to steadythe tool and to force it against the work, while rotation of the grip 6 will drive the tool as will be clear.
The device is extremely simple and inexpensive, yet will be highly efficient for driving and removing screws in otherwise accessible places, and since probablythe best results are obtained from the specific features ofv construction shown and described,
these features constitute the preferred formy of the tool.
j I wish it understood, however, that within thejscope of the invention as claimed, numerous minor changes may well be made. y
I claim:
l. A tool of the class described comprising a straight one piece tool shank, a straight one piece handle shank having a hand grip on its rear end and in line with said handle shank, a universal joint connecting the front end of said handle shank and the rear end of said tool shank, a fixed collar near the front end of said tool shank, a one piece U-shaped yoke having openings in its arms through which said tool shank passes rotatably, said arms being positioned between and bearing against said. universal joint and said collar, and a rigid hand grip extending laterally from the cross bar vof said yoke.
2. A structure as specified in claim l, said cross bar of said yoke converging forwardly with said tool shank, and said lateral hand grip extending at right angles froi said cross bar.
