attorney 3- frame and is pivoted loosely upon the end of the shaft 7, the upper end of the lever 21 being provided with a hand grip 22 which may be grasped when it is desired to move the foot rest into or out of position, the foot rest being withdrawn below the chair when the lever is pushed forward and projected when the lever is pushed rearwardly.

Then the foot rest is extended, with its forward end rested upon the floor and its rear end supported upon the guide rods, it

provides a convenient object against which the occupant of the chair may place his feet in order to rock the chair. Furthermore, it also provides a suitable rest or brace for the occupant of the chair when he desires to operate the mechanism for converting the chair from one type to the other. I

The further operation of the chair has been clearly brought out in the foregoing description, and a further rehearsal of the operation is not here necessary, but it should be noted that without the use of double frames, or extra legs or. other duplication of parts, I have provided a very simple and complete convertible chair, in that it will not require an unduly heavy construction outside of the chair structure itself to carry out the essential features of the invention.

hat I claim as my invention is 1. A convertible rocking chair comprising in combination, with a chair body, a pair of flexible steel rockers mounted upon the lower ends of the legs of the body, and means op erative by the occupant of the chair for flexing the rockers into their curved positions or into straight position.

2. A convertible rocking chair comprising; in combination, with a chair body, a pair of flexible steel rockers mounted upon the lower ends of the legs of the body, and means operative by the occupant of the chair for flexing the rockers into their curved position or into straight position, and casters mounted upon the extremities of the rockers.

3. A convertible rocking chair comprising in combination, with a chair body, a pair of flexible steel rockers mounted upon the lower ends of the legs of the'body, a rock shaft pivoted between the sides of the body, rook arms mounted upon the shaft, levers connected to the rock arms and pivoted in the middle portions of the rockers, cables extending from the opposite end of the rock,

arms and connected to the extremities of the rockers, and means for operatingsaid rock shaft to simultaneously cause the lever to bow downwardly the middle of the rockers and cause the cables to flex upwardly the extremities of the rockers.
