To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MIKE DOBINOH, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Nanty Glo, in the county of Cambria and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Life-Preservers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in life preservers.

The primary object of this invention is to provide an inflatable float adapted to be Worn upon the body as a life preserver and preventing by its buoyancy, a sinking of the bod A further object is to provide a readily in flatable float that may be readily put on and strapped to the person and conforming in shape of that of the body.

A still further object is to provide a float of light material and adapted to be inflated for rendering the same buoyant and readily secured and detached from the body of the wearer to the shape of which it conforms.

With these general objects in View and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claims.

In the drawings forming a part of this application and wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views :'Figure 1 is a rear elevation of the device detached from the wearer, and, Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof partially broken away.

Referring more in detail to the drawings, the life preserver broadly consists of a flat float 10 which being hollow is provided with a central chamber 11 adapted to be inflated through the inlet nipple 12 and by means of any ordinary compressor or air pump, such as the hand pump 13 herein illustrated.

It is to be understood that the float is composed of a comparatively light and thin material such as rubber and has a marginal rim or ridge 11 raised from the body thereof and formed of the same material.

The upper portion of the float is hollowed out as at 15 and adapted to fit the front of the neck of the wearer whilea strap 16 has bifurcated end portions 17 secured to the rim 14 at opposite sides of the portion 15 and when positioned upon the wearer extends for engagement with the said central buckle 21, being thereby positioned at the back of the wearer.

The float is wardly-projecting portions 22 which correspond to the legs of the wearer andare provided with straps 23 adapted to encircle the legs for securing the float thereto, the said straps 23 having their free ends engageable with oppositely-positioned buckles 2 1.

lVith the above described float provided with the securing straps as hereinbefore indicated, it will be seen that when the buckles of the straps are unloosed, the arms of the person may be positioned through the openings 18 and the head inserted between the strap bifurcation 17 and the float portion provided with two down- 15, and with the buckle 20 positioned at the back ofthe wearer, the said buckle 20 may be firmly strapped in engagement while the strap 16 also engaged with the buckle 21 securely positions the float upon the wearer. The leg straps 23 also employed when desiredfurther secure the float to the person, and the same may be readily worn while swimming through the water.

While the forms of the invention herein shown and described are what are believed to be preferable'embodiments thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood that various forms and modifications may be resorted to which fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed. 7

What I claim as new is 1. An inflatable float provided with armhole openings adjacent the top thereof and with leg extension portions at the bottom thereof, a back strap provided with a buckle secured tothe float, a neck strap having bifurcated ends secured to the top of the float and with a free end engageable with said buckle, and encircling straps carried by said leg portions.
