Be it known that I, PHILIP LARoNY, a citizen of the 'UnitedStates, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Attaching Flues to Boilers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to means for attaching flues to boilers, and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide simple means for connecting the ends of the flues to the crown sheet of a boiler in such manner that the flue can be readily renewed when burnt out without the use of special tools, and which will render the operation of renewals comparatively easy and quick to perform.

The foregoing and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is asectional view of a boiler flue connected to a fragmentary portion of the crown sheet of a boiler in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 2 -2 of Fig. 1.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the crown sheet of the boiler and 2 is an eyelet which is upset as at 3 on the inner side of the boiler sheet, said eyelet extending through the flue hole in the boiler sheet 1 and at its outer end is exteriorly screw threaded as at 4. The boiler flue 5 extends through the crown sheet and its outer end is flush with the outer end of the eyelet 4, and said boiler flue is interiorly I screw threaded as at 5.

A double collar 6 is provided with interior screw threads in each of its walls or off the cap 6 and inserting a new flue whenspaced members 7 and said members 7 are connected by a crown portion 7 and said collar is fitted upon the screw threaded ends of the eyelet 2 and the boiler flue .5 as shown in Fig. 1. A brass gasket 8 bears against the outer ends of the eyelet 2 and the flue 5 as shown in Fig. 1, and when the collar 6 is turned on by means of a suitable wrench or pipe tongs, the flue is kept from leaking, and the flue may be readily removed by turning ever desired.

Fro-m the foregoing it will be obvious that the labor of renewing flues with this invention would be comparatively slight, and the cost would be greatly reduced over the ordinary way of renewing flues in boilers.

Various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claim.

What is claimed is A boiler attaching means comprising an eyelet having a threaded portion extending outside the boiler, said eyelet being upset Within the crown sheet of the boiler, a flue extending into said eyelet and having its end flush with the end of the eyelet, said flue being interiorly screw threaded, a double collar comprising a crown portion and spaced members forming an annular recess, said spaced membersbeing interiorly screw threaded and being of equal distance from the crown portion, the threads of said double cap being adapted to be fitted to the interior threads of the flue and the exterior threads of the eyelet.
