To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ARTUR VVnoHsLEn, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Nuremberg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neckties, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in neckties, and more particularly to an im proved funnel-shaped insertion for the knot of the same which is to be formed therein, the insertion consisting of felt or the like soft material, which after forming the knotpresents a resilient base of the same.

The accompanying drawing shows the improved arrangement.

Figure 1 shows the insertion in unfolded position, Fig. 2 in the position while being folded, Fig. 3 in its position on a necktie, Fig. 4 in its position while the knot of the necktie is being formed, and Fig. 5 in its position within the finished knot of the necktie. Fig. 6 shows a clamp for holding the insertion in proper position within the necktie.

The insertion consists of a flat strip a of felt or the like soft material having two lateral parts 6, c, which can be folded upon the strip a and connected by press-buttons d, c or similar means (Figs. 1 and 2). Upon the insertion being folded in this way, the unknotted necktie is drawn through the same, it being guided therein by lower lateral slots f in the insertion. Of course, the

necktie may also be placed first into the open insertion and the latter may then be closed around the same. The position of the insertion on the necktie must be such that the part a lies in front of the insertion (Fig. 8). The necktie g is then knotted in the usual way, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5. Owing to the insertion being made of soft material, the same can be adapted to any desired shape of knot in the necktie. The short rearward end 9 of the necktie is then connected by means of an ordinary springclamp /L (Fig. 6) with the projecting lower end 0 of the insertion provided for this purpose, whereby the insertion is securely held in its proper position within the knot of the necktie (Fig. 5).

I claim:

An insertion for necktie knots, comprising in combination, a flat strip of soft material consisting of a middle part and two lateral parts adapted to be folded upon said middle part, male press-button members on one lateral part and female press-button members on the other lateral part for the connection of said parts, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose setforth.
