N INVENTOR v 6 Hal 13- 5,
UNITED STATES PATENT orrion.
SAMUEL E. HARRIS, OF PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
ADJUSTABLE BUCKET-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 18,1913.
Application filed July 3, 1912. Serial No. 707,617.
gagement with a bucket, for supporting the same in an elevated position, relatively to a floor, whereby the lower edges of the bucket or receptacle held by said holder cannot injure the polished surface, carpet or support upon'which it is placed.
A' further object of this invention is to provide an adjustable bucket holder consisting of comparatively few parts that are easily and quickly assembled, easy to apply to a bucket in an assembled form, and highly eflicie'nt for the purposes for which they are intended.
With the above and other objects in .view,
. the invention resides in a novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of the holder in connection with a bucket. Fig. 2 is a plan of the holder, and Fig. 3 is an enlarged perspective vlew of a portion of the same.
Further describing my invention. in detail with reference to the drawing wherein like numerals denote corresponding parts throughout: 1- denotes a resilient metallic band and connected to the outer side of said band, adjacent to the ends thereof, are
zontal support 6 and the lower end of each,
leg is provided with a yieldablefoot 7, preferbly made of rubber. The foot 7 is in the form of a socket that is fitted upon the lower end of the leg.
8 denotes clamping members connected 1 to the outer side of the band 1 by coiled retractile springs 9. The end convolutions of said springs are connected to the-band 1 and to the clamping members 8 by screws 10 or other fastening means. The clamping members 8 are preferably two in number and are diametrically opposed. The n per ends of the members 8 are hook shape as at 11. 12 denotes a bucket or receptacle arranged within the holder. The lower edges of the bucket 1.2.rests upon the support 6 of the legs 4: with the band 1 fitting around the body of the bucket. The hook shaped ends. 7
11 of the clamping members 8 engage over the upper edges or chimes of the bucket 12 as shown in-Fig. 1. The bucket issafely supported in an elevated position and the lower edges of the bucket are prevented from injuring a surface. The yieldable feet 7 prevent the lower ends of the legs 4 from injuring a surface.
It is obvious that the band 1 can be easily fitted upon buckets of varying diameters, with either the ends of the band separated or overlapping, and that said bucket is firmly held upon the support 6 through the medium of the clamping members 8. The holder in its entirety can be made of light and durable metal, and while in the drawing there is illustrated a preferred embodiment of my invention, I desire to have it understood that the structural elements are susceptible to such variations and modifioations as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is t 1. In an adjustable bucket holder, a band adapted to embrace a bucket and having the ends thereof yieldably connected together,
.legs having the upper ends thereof connected to the outer side of said band and shaped to support the lower edges of said bucket in an elevated position, and hook shaped clamping members movably connected to the outer side of said band and adapted to engage the upper edges of said bucket.
2. In an adjustable bucket holder, a metallic band adapted to embrace a bucket, coiled retractile springs connecting the ends thereo'E connecte said legs,
of said band, le S having theupperends f to the outer side of said band, said legs being shaped to provide supports for the lower edges of said bucket, yieldable' feetcarried by the lower ends of hook shaped clamping members adapted to engage over the upper edges of said bucket, and coiled retractile springs In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
SAMUEL E. HARRIS. Witnesses N. L. BOGAN, MAX H. SRoLovITz.
