Abstract

988,380. Hinges. BLOXWICH LOCK & STAMPING CO. Ltd. May 6, 1963 [Feb. 15, 1962], No. 5764/62. Heading E2F. A hinge comprises a lever 21, 26 adapted to carry the bonnet or boot lid of a vehicle and pivoted at 22 to the free end of a hinge arm 23 pivoted at 24 to a bracket 25 adapted to be attached to the vehicle body, the lever having a pin, peg or roller 27 working in a guide slot 28 in the bracket and the hinge arm being loaded by a tension bar 29 adapted to apply to the arm a turning moment opposed to that applied by the weight of the bonnet or lid. The torsion bar carries a roller 33 co-operating with a cam track 34 on the arm, a recess 35 being provided to hold the hinge in the fully open position.
