Abstract
876,002. Automatic frequency control. LEE PRODUCTS (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. Dec. 3, 1959 [Dec. 12, 1958], No. 40154/58. Class 40(5) The frequency of the local oscillator of a television or radio f.m. receiver is automatically controlled by the provision of a diode associated with the resonant circuit of the oscillator, variations in a control signal derived preferably from a ratio detector or phase discriminator causing corresponding variations in the diode reactance and therefore of the oscillator frequency. In the Figure accompanying the Provisional Specification the control signal is fed in through an amplifier valve V 1 and applied to a semi-conductor diode D via a potentiometer network R 4 , R 5 , L 1 C 5 being the resonant circuit of the local oscillator LO. In another embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) the valve acts also as an audio frequency voltage amplifier while in yet another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the valve is connected as a cathode follower. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 810,311.
