Abstract
471,088. Alloys. SKODA WORKS, PLZEN. Nov. 20, 1935, No. 32230. Convention date, Nov. 24, 1934. [Class 82 (i)] A non-magnetic steel alloy of high tenacity and yield point comprises not less than 50 per cent of iron, 8À5-15 per cent of manganese, 0À5-4 per cent of nickel, 0À35-0À8 per cent of carbon, 0À8-5 per cent of silicon, either 0À5-4 per cent of chromium or 0À5-4 per cent of aluminium or both, and 0À1-10 per cent of one or more elements, other than silicon, chromium, and aluminium, that close the gamma phase in iron, the maximum total content of elements that close the gamma phase, including silicon, chromium, and aluminium, being 30 per cent and the relationship between the carbon and manganese lying within the limits indicated by the hatched area of the diagram. The alloy may also comprise 0À1-8 per cent of one or more elements, other than manganese and nickel, that open the gamma phase in iron, in which case the total quantity of elements which open or close the gamma phase other than silicon, chromium, aluminium, manganese, and nickel, does not exceed 30 per cent. Specification 463,252 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes an alloy having wider ranges of manganese, nickel, carbon, silicon, chromium, and aluminium contents. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 369,918.
