Abstract
10,958. Sams, E. H. May 4. Decanting and settling.-Liquid containing fats, oils, &c. from a sink or trap c is led to an annular space f between flanges e, e<1> on a vessel d enclosed by a chamber a. The liquid passes by holes i into the vessel, which collects the sediment. Oil rises into the upper part 1, and water passes through holes into a compartment 2 and thence to an outlet h. In a modified form, the vessel d is supported by its flanges in a raised position and has a perforated bottom and a lid. In another form, the bottom of the vessel is funnel-shaped and leads to an outlet pipe.
