1338798 Conveyer belt INSTITUTUL DE CERCETARI PIELARIE CAUCIUC SI MASE PLASTICE 17 July 1971 33677/71 Heading B5N A conveyer belt for use at high temperatures comprises a carcass 3, a protective cover 1 for the carcass providing an upper load carrying face, a lower face 4 for engaging the belt drive mechanism and a protector layer 2 between the carcass and the upper face formed of a mixture of asbestos flakes or fibres and a transversely and longitudinally flexible metal structure 5 such as a mesh or network. The carcass 3 suitably comprises polyamide cloth insertions; at least one of these inserts may be wider than the belt and the edges are folded over the edge parts of the metal structure 5 or separate inserts may be placed in edge portions of the protective cover. The protector layer may serve as the protective cover. The metal structure and the asbestos may be treated prior to inclusion in the elastomer with an adhesion improving agent.
