Abstract

1375087 Identity card: key REMVAC SYSTEMS CORP 29 Sept 1972 44987/72 Headings B6A A42A and A42D An identity card or a key 10 contains conductive plates in a plastics coating. A central plate 15 is joined to smaller plates 20 arranged in rows by strips 22 which may be broken or left complete to represent bits of data. A reader for the card has a slot receiving the card such that the card can only be inserted one way round to operate a voltage supply switch S. The reader has a central plate 28 corresponding to plate 15 and connected via the switch to a voltage source with smaller plates 33 in rows corresponding to plates 20 each being connected to a detector. The two pairs of plates 28, 15 and 33, 21 form two capacitors in series and if strip 21 is complete a voltage applied to strip 28 charges the capacitors and the charging current and voltage at plate 33 is detected by MOSFET 85 to operate S.C.R. 86.
