Abstract

"PLATAFORMA SEMI-SUBMERGìVEL EXTENSìVEL". Descreve-se uma embarcação semi-submergível que tem um par de pontões verticalmente espaçados, com flutuabilidade variada. O pontão inferior fica retido em uma estreita proximidade vertical em relação ao pontão superior quando a embarcação está em trânsito. O pontão inferior é lastreado no local de trabalho, baixando o pontão até uma profundidade de cerca de 32 metros abaixo da linha-base do primeiro pontão. Como resultado, as características de estabilidade e movimento da embarcação são melhoradas significativamente. Os pontões ficam conectados entre si por meio de pernas retráteis.
