How I get my best work done:

• Usually with background music 🎧 🎼 🎹 🥁 🎷 🎺 🎸 or silence/calm

• I am a visual learner - I enjoy watching videos and doodling about when learning something new

• I work best when I've got lots of time to try things out, google answers 🦦, do things several times and spend time visualising and verbalising how things fit together, refer back to previous workshops and projects

• I learn most when we get it wrong a few times, and working out what to change to break it and then changing it back

• I love asking lots of clarifying questions to make sure my understanding is correct

The role I usually take in a team:

• very much depends on the dynamic of the team
• I don't naturally take charge but I'll try to if it feels like we're not getting anywhere
• scrum facilitation is kinda fun I'd love to get really good at it
• I like the readme, hackmd, SGC admin and I'm happy to do it

My communication style:

• I appreciate straightforward communication and making jokes in stressful situations
• feel free to talk loads and explain what you're doing & thinking when we're working together because I probably can't see your face

What people misunderstand about me:

• I can be a bit blunt sometimes- I'm either overly hedged and modal in the way I say things or just brick-like in my directness and I'm working on finding a middle ground
• if I come across as closed/cold it's because I'm a bit awkward and not because I don't like you

How I like to get my feedback:

• I really appreciate honest and straightforward feedback and won't get defensive on you
• I thrive on good feedback, constructive feedback and compliments
• If I've done or said something offensive or annoying please also tell me, slack it to me if you feel more comfortable
• I always appreciate people speaking their mind even if I don't agree with them 🙋🏻‍♀️

• music! All sorts. I love making playlists, dancing to lots of different kinds of music, talking about it, going to gigs and clubs and festivals (before the plague ofc) 🎵 👯‍♀️
• I like thinking about user interface and user experience, I've spent a few years working on and building customer support teams for tech startups and I'm looking forward to seeing how that knowledge will translate to my engineering work 💁‍♀️🤖
