Hi there,
Thoonk is great for message passing in a notification system, but the queue feature made more sense than feeds for us. Unfortunately, the npm install has a bug where redis is not required in queue.js. I fixed that, and also added basic Redis authentication for those of us who don't run in trusted environments.
Have a look and see if it makes sense to pull these into your branch.
