Abstract

Cognitive radio network is proposed to better spectrum utilization. In this network, secondary users (SUs) can use the spectrum band reserved for primary users (PUs) without generated interference. And SU has to vacate the channel when PU arrives. In order to improve the system performance and guarantee the QoS requirements, we propose an efficient radio resource management scheme with buffering for new SUs and interrupted SUs, and channel reservation for interrupted SUs. Two dimensional Markov chain is used to describe and analyze the performance of the proposed efficient radio resource management scheme. The blocking probability, the forced termination probability, the non-completion probability and waiting time are derived for SUs. Simulation results show that the proposed approach can reduce the SU non-completion probability.
