Hi,I think I'm going to take a step back from Tumblr for a while, not saying I'll going cold turkey but I'm not gonna be "on" here so much for a bit, maybe until October. Is she a different variety of axolotl or is she just older and Like That™?
She’s 1/4 Kaiju on her mothers side ❤️ but honestly I have no idea. She was already freaking massive (8-9 inches) when I got her, she’d been surrendered at a few months old, maybe because of her size

Since then she’s grown almost 5 inches The fucking monster
I thibk it’s a combination of diet (i breed shrimp and worms so she has a 50% live diet) + space, she has a 75 gallon tank all to herself (The Dark Lord is very spoiled), and genetics obviously.
Most axolotls bred to be pets get around 6-7 inches at most, wild morphs can get up to 14 inches though. Her size, and her mottled, spotty patterning makes me think even though she was probably selectively bred to be melanistic (black) and GFP (UV reactive) morph, I she has a lot of wild axolotl genes in there too. Idk, I don’t know much about this stuff myself but
