Azriel’s shadows disappearing is GOOD. Because he doesn’t feel the need be PROTECTED. He feels SAFE. He feels COMFORTABLE. The shadows are a DEFENSE MECHANISM. If they disappear that means he is PRESENT IN THE MOMENT WITH NO ANXIETY. He doesn’t have to be the shadowsinger, he can just be Azriel.
When it comes to Nancy, Jonathan and their relationship it's like this:
If you want
- Nancy to stay true to herself
- Jonathan to stay true to himself
- and jncy to stay together
you're asking for the impossible.
Pick two. Seriously, pick two because you cannot have all three.
You're either asking Nancy to give up who she is in order to stay with Jonathan or you're asking Jonathan to give up who he is in order to stay with Nancy.
Imho it's just not worth it. We're watching Nancy and Jonathan being miserable season after season all while we're asking them to stay together when they don't really want to.
As for me I'd rather have Jonathan and Nancy to stay true to themselves and find their happiness elsewhere. Sometimes loving someone also means giving them the opportunity to be who they actually are.
Sometimes loving someone means we have to let them go.
Like Jonathan and Nancy need to let go of each other.
You will never 100% idiotproof your creative work & if you try to, you will only succeed in smothering the soul out of it. btw

what is the greatest love song of all time… tell me
i refuse to close my heart to this!!! as a john and lucy understand-er
i see a lot of people saying that going back to john was "toxic" and an indication of low self esteem on lucy's part. but i didnt see anything remotely toxic between john and lucy in their interactions after they reconnected. he expressed genuine concern, he was communicative, he established clear boundaries and respected hers. he even dropped everything to help a stranger and stayed outside to make sure she and lucy are safe inside! yeah, he made mistakes, but he admitted to them, was genuinely sorry, and did what was in his power to make things right. yes, lucy judged him, was unclear about what she wanted, and led him on, but she was vulnerable with him, believed in his dreams, and still saw the good in him even when he didnt believe in himself. people can call him and lucy pathetic all they want, but i saw two imperfect individuals putting in an earnest effort to find their way thru life 😭 like im sorry ur self insert mc didnt end up w the rich ceo bc u hate your lazy ex, but if you genuinely grasped the humanity of lucy and john, maybe you can see how people can still struggle yet love and be loved.
materialists spoilers!!!
guys pls i can’t engage with any of these posts about materialists. y’all are so fucking shallow about it and just proving celine song’s point. love is meant to be something unexplainable and beautiful and magical, but y’all keep talking about “broke man propaganda” and “idc i would’ve picked pedro”. shut up!!!!! that’s not the point of the movie!!!!!!!!!! harry didn’t understand her and see her the way john did. they were perfect on paper but lacked any really chemistry and that’s the POINT. it isn’t always the person you think is best for you, sometimes it’s your broke ex who sees the sadness in your eyes before you even know it’s there yourself. media literacy is dead and gen z killed it.
One thing I liked about "Materialists" is how Chris Evans' 37 year old character is portrayed as poor and it does look like he is broke and truly struggling, lives in a shitty apartment with several other people, drives a really old shitty car, can't afford literally anything and has to work service jobs to make ends meet while being unable to get his dream job. That's a realistic portrayal of someone who is broke, unlike all those shows and movies that tell us characters are broke, and then they live in posh apartments, have a ton of designer clothes they change in every scene, and have perfect haircuts and makeup and hang out in bars and cafeterias every day and constantly order take-out.
