Pandamon I’m pouring honey on you, GOAT. Cried already 6 episodes into the show award.. this was just as perfect a conclusion to Pandamon and Sasatake’s arc as I could’ve asked for. That fucker Yuukari won’t be messing with the village anymore for a while, astamon out of commission and most importantly, Tomoro got to see what the pinnacle of Digimon-human bonding looks like in the boss and Pandamon!
To laugh at a man willing to commit seppuku and die to protect innocent people is beyond despicable. Yuukari was just such a cartoonishly evil piece of shit, he didn’t get as bad a fate as he deserved, but ultimately the most important thing is that the people and community are safe.
It’s cool how Tomoro sees a lot of his brother’s actions in how Sasatake and by extension Pandamon, try to shoulder everything by themselves to protect what they hold dear. I feel like when we look back on it, this is gonna be such a pivotal episode for his development.
Gekkomon holding his own against Astamon despite the two evolution difference is really admirable. I hope we get to see him digivolve sooner rather than later, but he’s been putting in work so far. The animation on Pandamon’s ultimate e pulse attack was so cool. Also, again they play into the whole idea of Digimon reflecting their owner as Pandamon nearly sacrifices himself just like Sasatake was willing to do earlier. That “you’re still my child” hit so hard because of course he wouldn’t disown you for doing exactly what he’d do lol! Beautiful ending.
Toei have cooked in the first 6 episodes and it looks like they’ll keep it up. I cannot wait to see what comes next.
I’m not sold on the boy dancer cures personally(not yet anyway) but no denying Toei COOKED with this week’s action scenes and I love how the boys’ seiyuu sound so natural. Made for a really unique Darkranda fight. I do hope we see more male cures in precure going forward though. This episode was also really nice for Kokoro as she’s got her Kaito type figure to look up to and support! Wish Sunda and his grandfather’s dancing business all the best lol.
Nuremberg ✅ 5/5.
“You want to know why it happened here? Because people let it.”
Incredibly relevant film for 2025 as Nazism and right wing extremism have made a resurgence across the west and world. At the rate we’re going, we’ll need another Nuremberg someday.
2.5 hour court case film that flew by because of incredible performances from Rami Malek and Russell Crowe. The relationship Kelley and Göring develop over the course of the film is a perfect example of how multifaceted and complex “evil” people can be and shows how they can amass such large and devoted followings. To be so close to a man who surely had knowledge of the genocide of 6 million people and NOT be utterly revolted, but actually find him to be likable is truly the scariest part of this film and Nazi Germany’s story. It’s easier for us to paint them as complete monsters and act like we have no idea why these people had followings, but the reality is much more complex. These were extremely charismatic narcissists who could make you feel like you were their friend or important, and then go on and commit some of the worst atrocities in human history. Russell Crowe really sells role so well and you can see Malek’s Kelley even begin to falter a bit himself. I enjoyed this a lot and even though I was tired af while watching this, I didn’t feel it dragged at all. In fact, I kind of wanted more.
Classic Oscar Bait film, I hope it gets some noms, OBAA probably has everything locked up because Hollywood agenda and all that, but this is one of the best films of the year and extremely timely.
I love this scene so much because you can see how much Ranma cares about Akane and how important protecting her is to him. The look on Akane’s face says all you need to know. She’s so relieved Ranma’s willing to put himself on the line even against impossible odds to keep her safe. Truly my Roman Empire.
Well, welcome back Myoga.. but 10000x worse. One of, if not the worst Ranma episode ever, and not because of any issue from the studio, but just the fact Happosai is unabashedly a pedophile. This sort of old man preys on young girls in anime trope was the norm in the 70s and 80s, but it’s aged horribly and is hard to watch now.
Like holy shit this entire episode was so fucking cringe from Happosai trying to steal Akane’s underwear to him going to Akane’s fucking school to grope the girls there?? 🤮 I’m not gonna drag Takahashi sensei for this because that was just culturally acceptable back when this was written and this series is very much a product of its time, but that doesn’t mean we have to like every aspect of it.
The only good thing to come out of this episode is we got to see how protective of Akane ranma is. The way he reacted when he found out about Happosai trying to perv on Akane and sleep with her was very sweet. Akane bringing Ranma food and tea and keeping him company when Happosai kicked him out the house is sooo cute too. Truly the wife of all time. We also got to see my boy Ryoga in human form again which was great.
Everything else about this episode.. I wanna forget it and I hope we don’t have to focus too much on this nonce going forward, but I feel like him being Genma and Soun’s master means we will 🤦🏽♂️
Not me thinking this was going to be a normal silly over the top spy x family episode after the whole Director x Loid beef just for us to end with a TERRORIST ATTACK KIDNAPPING THE KIDS?? That got really dark at the end, they better not hurt any of the Eden kids I swear!!
First two segments this week were so funny. Anya’s silly faces and the way she messed with Damian will never get old. The psychiatry director hating on Loid because he’s too good at his fake job is crazy though lmao. Imagine being such a good spy that you’re better than actual medical professionals! Hater of the year award. Calling the state police on Loid just because your subordinate with whom you wanna have an inappropriate relationship, had a crush on Loid is CRAZY. I got kinda nervous there and then it just turned out to be a 5D 500 IQ play by Loid, Franky and Fiona to expose the director and get him in Loid’s pocket. Whole time Fiona over here fantasising about collecting Loid’s tears lmao, I love her. I do wanna read an AU about if she got the role of Loid’s wife..
THAT ENDING HOLY SHIT. Is it finally gonna be Anya’s time to shine or who’s going to save the kids?? Hopefully it’s a bluff and the terrorists won’t actually do anything seriously and Anya will be able to peep it out.. can’t just leave me on this cliffhanger! Also, more Anya x Damian moments in this arc too please lol.
Die, My Love ✅ 3.5/5 Another trippy psychological film following a mother coping with stress and spiraling into madness. I think ‘If I had Legs I’d kick you’ does this sort of story better, but Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are immense here.
There’s a lot of good in terms of depicting postpartum depression and bipolar disorder, but I felt like the narrative is very disjointed. Probably flows better in the original book, but in the film there’s some plot points that just feel like they’re there and don’t connect to the story. Like what was LaKeith’s character even doing? Was he real? Was she imagining it? Was the baby even real lol? I think the most important takeaway here is the domestication of a free spirited ‘wild’ woman and how you can never change someone’s nature, nor should you try to.
Love the direction here though and the color grading is very good. That opening shot is amazing too. It’s a well made film with great performances that just feels messy at times and frankly I was ready for it to end about 30 minutes before it did. Still, solid watch.
