Poetry reading to benefit families in Gaza

[ID: Watercolor painting of two Palestinian sunbirds. Text reads "Help displaced families in Mawasi. Displaced families are pouring into Mawasi with empty hands and empty stomachs. With your help, we can continue to feed them, comfort their children, and remind them they are not forgotten." End ID]

Sídhe Press is holding a virtual poetry reading to raise funds for displaced families in Mawasi. Tickets are free / pay-what-you-can: you can get your ticket here, and make a donation to support refugees in Mawasi at their chuffed campaign here. 100% of donations will go to purchasing food in bulk to feed 50 families in Gaza. Each parcel contains essentials such as rice, cheese, cooking oil, pasta, and za'atar.

Each reader will be reading their selection of poem by a Palestinian poet, as well as a poem of their own. As one of the readers for this project, I would be very glad to see some of you there 🧡

Unfortunately, after being diagnosed with malnutrition, I’ve now developed anemia. I didn't die from the war, but I will die from this disease.

I have severe headaches and haven't been able to stand for two days, That’s why I’ve been silent here, watching the donations slow down while my body weakens.

Guys, I've entrusted my friend with the task of collecting donations for my family in the event of my death. Please don't forget my injured mother and younger siblings.

please donate to aboud. please

Please save Aboud!!!!!!

Don't wait.

I tried, I tried a lot with people, if you disappear know that I begged you.

help, don't hesitate. Do what's right, donate and help out.

PSA: KOSA IS BACK

The internet censorship and serveillance bill KOSA (the Kids Online Safety Act) is back and rearing its ugly head and has been reintroduced. But this time Senator Richard blumenthal and Known Transphobe Senator Marsha Blackburn are determined to get it through by including it a House Energy and Commerce Commitee “child safety” package that is set to be voted on after the shutdown is over. We CANNOT let this happen. This weekend I need to see and hear everyone call House leadership and bug the hell out of them to not support KOSA. Call them. Email them. FAX them as well. Waste their ink. We beat kosa before and we can do it again. It hasn’t moved in the house or senate, but we need to do everything we can to make sure it stays that way. Remember the UK’s “Online Safety Act” is a KOSA copycat bill. They got their bs from us. So if you don’t want us to end up like that and be forced to verify your age to access stuff on the internet (aka that new bs policy on YouTube) and give the government or anybody who can hack the power to watch and track everything you say and do on the internet, fight this!

The second the govt shutdown is over, they are going to move on this bill. We need to jump ahead of the curve. FFTF recently sent out an email saying they are expecting a House vote soon.

We need to mass call, email, and fax House Leadership to tell them that we don’t want this! We beat KOSA before and we can do it again!

October 6, 2023 was the last peaceful day we knew. Since then, life in Gaza has turned into a nightmare that never ends.

My niece Tulin died of starvation, and now my younger brothers are following the same path. Their tiny bodies are fading, their strength disappearing day by day. Please click here to donate to my family, your help could be the difference between life and death.

My parents are injured, and I carry everything alone. I haven’t eaten properly in days, and sometimes I feel my body giving up too. Please share this post and talk about us so we are not forgotten.

What is stopping you from sharing? Please, my friend, please donate, please share. Don’t stop supporting us and speaking about

I think it's important now more than ever to understand that the media is always trying to misdirect from the horrific violence going on in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Horrors are still happening. Bombs are still falling. People still need help.

Please consider donating to my dear friend Nader -- a young man in Gaza right now who's been tirelessly raising funds so his family can eat and afford care. We cannot forget Gazans are people just like us who deserve support in their time of need. FUNDRAISER HERE.

Hello, I will not prolong my speech. Frankly, I do not have the energy to write. You are all seeing, via TV, phone and computer, what is happening in Gaza, broadcast live in the last two days. The situation has become terrifying. Yes, the bombing does not stop. Never, never stops, and everything is close. We are tired of the many appeals and the world is ignoring us. (Please help us, share and donate. We really need assistance.) Donate if you can, please.

once again asking any of followers to help Nader here, nobody deserves to be put through this

During the past three days, it was as if we were literally living in hell. I did not sleep for more than a few hours. I have not witnessed bombing like this since 7/10. It is horrific. I feel as if my heart wants to jump out of my chest and my mind and head are about to explode. It is truly unbearable. Please save us.

I think we have endured enough, and that is enough. We can no longer endure. We can no longer endure. We are tired. Understand this. Stop the war. Stop the war. Stop the war.

Relief for Rafah is a community kitchen in Rafah that is buying food and water in bulk and distributing it for free. They need funding to continue supplying the people of Mawasi al-Qarara refugee camp with water.

Update as of September 5:

Unfortunately, September has come and brought with it no reprieve or relief for the people of Gaza.  The conditions of Palestinians in Gaza, specifically in the Al-Mawasi area and Gaza City, have not improved from where they were last month but instead have worsened. Our camp, the Al-Qarara refugee camp, is welcoming more and more displaced families from the North as the IOF burn Gaza City to the ground. But the "humanitarian zones" are already crowded. Many cannot find tents to shelter in or land to prop their tents on. Basic necessities are beyond scarce. We haven't been able to provide a water truck in several days which many rely on for their only source of clean water. Relief for Rafah is sustained only by your contributions and the determination of our team on the ground. We will never stop working as long as we have the means but without the means, how can we continue?

I don't know how we sleep while the children of Gaza are dying. I don't know how we eat while the children of Gaza are hungry. I don't know how to drink and there is not a drop of clean water there

Today I received news that a child I had spoken to had died. I don't know what to say. cry

I am so sorry that you are far away, but I am the one who is suffering, and yesterday I lost my best friend again. This is not an exaggeration. I am not writing this for you to donate to me only because there is no one to empty my eyes to. I am suffocating.

Ibrahim Ibrahim Ibrahim is suffering a lot, he needs a lot of help. Donate to him from here, please. Gfm link

The occupation has reached us very close. We could die at any time. Please, just think for a minute and donate to me and my family. Also, add a quote when you share this post. This will help me. Please donate.

Yesterday I was with my friends near the place where the displaced people are. We were playing football. Night came, so I greeted them one by one, as if I was saying goodbye to them.

I went home, sat on Tumblr for a while, then suddenly fell asleep at 1:30 a.m. A house next to us, not 50 meters away, was bombed. It was my friends’ house, so I ran quickly, my tears falling, drop by drop. They took one out, so I looked at him and found that he was my new friend, whom I had only met two weeks ago. Then they took out his little sister, who was no more than 10 years old. My heart was beating so fast that it almost stopped. Then they took out the rest. There were about 10-12 dead people, and my mind has not stopped thinking until now Please I want to live

How about we help Ibrahim reach 70,000 as soon as possible? I consider it a small reward for his patience and endurance.

I know some might say he doesn't deserve it, but I've known him for two years and I can attest that he's a very kind, gentle person who shares things with me that he wouldn't say publicly on Tumblr. So please, let's join hands and support him together. Any donation—even a small one—could make a huge difference.

Guys I am verified by @gazavetters Number 21 on the list, please my friends, I will be one of the happiest people in the world if I reach 70,000 Please my friend, I will forget all my suffering that I am going through. Just donate to me. I am asking you to donate and also share this post, please.

62% raised!! Keep sharing and donate if you can <3

The Israeli Defense Forces announced a short while ago that the Gaza Strip has become a combat zone and a red zone (north and center of the Gaza Strip), which has led to an insane and terrifying increase in the bombing, with a rocket or shell falling every few minutes, with a powerful explosion, killing dozens of people.

The Nazi Zionist occupation threatened to cut off water and food supplies to the entire Gaza Strip if it does not produce it south to the Mawasi area, which has no place for 2 million people. Unfortunately, no one knows what to do and no one knows what will happen (our fate is unknown and our destination is unlimited). UNRWA, the World Health Organization, and many humanitarian organizations warn Israel against invading the Gaza Strip, which will cause a famine worse than the current famine (you can imagine what will happen to us). The Israeli occupation has gone too far because the world sees and no one moves. The genocide is broadcast live and no one cares (America supports Israel greatly and is complicit in the war of extermination on Gaza).

The situation is not just difficult, the situation is dangerous, terrible and horrific. I feel as if I will not live long because of the horror of what I see (I want to continue my life), but the reality we are living is difficult and bitter. No one can bear it in light of these tensions and escalations. I am trying hard to be up to the responsibility of collecting donations for me and my family so that we stay alive and do not die of hunger and leave the Gaza Strip as soon as we have the opportunity. Here is the donation link. Please donate if you are able. This will help me and my family a lot.

Hello everyone, I would like to point out that Nader's campaign has been vetted by gazavetters and he is number 4 on their list. He depends on us to eat and drink and stay safe in the face of genocide. Please donate.

🕊️Keep Hope Alive: a Gaza Giving Circle🕊️

Keep Hope Alive is a project that connects multiple families in need in Gaza with a pool of donated funds. Anybody can donate through their Chuffed fundraiser. Funds are then evenly divided on a weekly basis between all 7 of the families that the project works to sustain.

The project was born from the observation that Palestinians are made to share intimate details of suffering in order to be afforded help. Its operations are designed around the following principles:

  • Support Palestinian autonomy by letting them choose what to share.
  • Prioritize Palestinians' privacy and dignity.
  • Alleviate the burden of asking for help. Forced displacement & internet blackouts mean that most of the families can’t log into their social media.
  • Create reliable, sustained help through regular giving, rather than chasing one-off donations.

The organizer of this project is my best friend in the world and I trust her implicitly. I am also managing bank transfers for one of the individual families connected to the project and can personally attest to their veracity. The specifics of every single ingoing and outgoing transaction are recorded here.

24 August - Catastrophe in the north; emergency help needed for 21 families

Next needs: all 21 families (our six families, and the fifteen families at the displacement camp in Jabalia) are in red zones. Gaza City is being besieged. This means imminent forced expulsion—with nowhere safe to go. The families need: transportation to displace south; rent or, less ideally, tents for shelter in the south or in new areas in the north; and to stock food and other essential supplies ASAP.

We have two urgent asks this week:

1 - If you'd like to make a larger donation (more than £100), please email us. We can use your contribution to match incoming donations, which is a huge help especially as we try to meet these emergency needs.

2 - Click "weekly" or "monthly" on any size donation to join the giving circle; this is a dependable hand on these very dark days. 70 folks have already made this commitment (mostly pledging the cost of a coffee), meaning reliable support every week.

16 August - a donor is matching £1,535 ($2,000)! Help the families face imminent displacement

Next needs: Most of the families are looking at imminent displacement, should the occupation continue to raze Gaza City and the north more broadly. This is devastating, but funds can help them with transportation, tents, stocking supplies, and replacing supplies they leave behind.

Keep Hope Alive should be distributing funds between the families it serves today, but it has completely run out of money!

A lot of people are relying on this fund. You can help by making a reliable, monthly contribution, no matter how small.

Donations have gotten extremely slow. The people at this camp still need water!
