Meet Tess Ledeux, the Youngest French Athlete at the Winter Olympics

To see more from Tess, follow @tessledeux on Instagram.

Sixteen-year-old Tess Ledeux (@tessledeux) still remembers her first backcountry ski experience in her hometown in the French Alps: “I was following much older friends and decided to drop off a small cliff with them,” says Tess, who was 9 years old at the time. “The result was a broken nose, but it didn’t stop my love of jumps and tricks!”

Tess is the youngest French athlete representing her country at the Winter Olympics this year in #Pyeongchang2018. “It’s just so cool to see all these athletes from so many different countries and cultures, all reunited by their love for winter sports,” says the slopestyle skier, a sport that combines downhill skiing with terrain park obstacles, like jumps and rails. “After the Olympics, I’ll probably take a short break from skiing. But I’ll soon get back to practicing. I can’t go too long without it!”

Going for the Long Shot with Sports Photographer @frodesandbech

To see more of his long-exposure photography, follow @frodesandbech on Instagram.

At 17 years old, Frode Sandbech (@frodesandbech) began bringing a camera along on snowboarding trips. “My two biggest passions merged into one thing,” the now 38-year-old Oslo, Norway, resident says. “Not long after, I was sending shots into magazines.” Frode established a successful freelance career, but unlike most sports photographers, he takes plenty of shots from a distance. “My style is to work around noise and find the cleanest lines,” he says. “I like to create pictures where I make the viewer dream and look through the whole image, not only the action.”
