It still baffles me when you see stuff that groups together like "nonbinary and two spirit" in a way that absolutely does not make sense. Hey do we think there's maybe something that might affect how two spirit people are being paid? perhaps paid differently to a broader non-binary category? I mean obviously race is so rarely counted into stuff like that anyway but that one is so glaringly obvious.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "Non-binary and two-spirit" is perhaps not an entirely useful group category for the racialised gender pay gap in the united states of america.

That's exactly what's supposed to happen. People wish they could be activists, but they can't because they have to work in order to survive, so they make sure their children can be the activists.

Also, you're absolutely right that this is what privilege looks like. But for the 1,000,012th time, the word "privilege" is not an insult. Having privilege doesn't automatically make you a bad person, but it does make you more likely to have opportunities to be a bad person. It's also possible to use your privilege for good.

Would you prefer that she instead use her wealth to buy an excess of housing in order to profit and hoard more wealth? How exactly would that be the morally superior choice?

another thing that i think is worth mentioning is that, whilst no transfem should feel compelled to talk or even care about drag in conversations with cis people or wider cis society, it is fucking crucially important that all white queer people in the US (including but certainly not limited to white trans people) learn & understand the place drag & ball culture has in queer history in the united states, and furthermore, i think to totally write off drag culture as inherently transmisogynistic in principle is an insult to the Black transfems (some of whom are recognised as the mothers of the american queer rights movement) who yknow helped to pioneer an enormous part of what it is recognised as today

girlies, if you’re gonna do maidplay you’re gonna need to talk about or at the very least understand the racialised nature of maids.

i know it’s boring to some of you to constantly be asking “what are the politics of this kink?” about literally everything but unfortunately we do in fact live in a society and pretending racism doesn’t exist encourages it rather than preventing it.

people are already replying to this to be like “Uh no actually i don’t have to think about the racial implications for this, because maid kink is based on french maids, which has nothing to do with race because french people are all white” which i think reveals a lot about how much people are obfuscating the politics at play here.

instead of just accepting it as a fact of the world, consider asking yourself why you might imagine a racialised minority doing backbreaking work for little pay when somebody mentions a maid in the US, but when somebody mentions a “french maid” you instead imagine a mythologised dainty white woman from a storybook rather a than real life person.

you're fucking kidding me. im seeing people on this site talking abt arabs getting arrested on unfounded charges of terrorism and going "see this is what they're gonna do to trans people!!!" like fuck off. as an arab trans woman its so clear how people only start caring once they realize its gonna happen to them too. stop turning us into little rhetorical foreshadowing tools and start getting angry on our behalf, dipshits

Like the type of trans girl people make memes about for "the universal expirence" or "every trans girl looks like this" is exclusively white.

always make sure to start forging parents' signatures on the first day of class. that way, your teachers won't know that you've been forging signatures for the rest of the year

hey I'm seeing some concerned parents and teachers in the notes, and I just want to say:

lmaooooo

the avatar movies are crazy bc "what if colonizers literally inhabited and puppeteered the bodies of indigenous peoples in order to exploit their homeland" sounds like the premise of some sort of anticolonial horror film, like specifically the kind of thing that would be commenting on self-indigenization among white settlers, but because it's James Cameron his whole takeaway from that premise is "it would be preddy cool"

actually sorry. the takeaway is also "the white settler possessing an indigenous body would actually be extremely good, perhaps even The Best, at being indigenous, and he would become their Leader"

holy hell actually

How about you look up the stats for food availability and poverty with starvation in Cuba before deciding you want to be conquered by them.

i

wonder

how

that

HAPPENED

The United States ranks higher in deaths by malnutrition than Cuba does. X X X Wild how they're able to support people like this even with an embargo. I wonder what kind of system would allow them to do this.

It's literally shameful how the United States is so much richer than Cuba and still has a higher percentage of people dying of malnutrition. It's actually disgusting.

Cuba is actually an example of a successful transition to an agroecological agricultural model that has earned praise from the FAO and others:

In recent years, the supply of food has decreased precisely because of the ongoing illegal embargo and sanctions (and I will argue, unsuccessful and unecessary market reforms):

The blockade policy of the US against Cuba is only an example of sadism and punishment. They have not broken the resistance of the Cuban people or the inmense success of its socialist project, feeding, educating and healing the Cuban people, and even the rest of the world, as Cuban agriculture, medicine and social services are seen as an example all over the third world (and Cuba is one of the biggest producers of medicines, with their doctors employed all over the world in humanitarian causes)

Lávate la boca antes de hablar de Cuba, yanqui.

"how about you look up the stats on food availability in cuba?"

*looks them up*

"Oh wow, hey, these are great!"

We are still being subjected to systematic bombing in all areas. These pictures were taken last night, when 51 people were killed as a result of these attacks that we saw and heard. They were very terrifying. Please help us so that we can leave here as soon as the crossing opens in the coming days.

Please donate to my friend Nader. There are no donations left in 10 hours. They really need and deserve our support. Their campaign has been verified by gazavetters and he is number 4 on their list. Every donation helps, contributes and saves their lives. Please donate.

Please share and donate to help Nader. He hasn't received donations for a long time. Please donate.

Guys, please donate. Please don't let us die while you watch. You can save us with your donations so we can leave as soon as the crossing opens. Please donate now, please.

This is not like a fully completed thought but yk

So I've done my first aid + CPR a few times. And every single time I try and bring up scenarios for fat folks

Specifically like 'what if someone is too large for me to wrap my arms around then to do the heimleich'

And its incredibly rare I get a decent answer.

How absolutely insane is it that me, as a fat person, is asking how to have MY life saved or to save ANOTHER life, is an impossible feat if someone is fat.

Most of the time they tell me to 'just try anyways uwu'

There has got to be a better option.

From a first aid and CPR trainer, who is also fat.

The heimleich is scientifically as effective as slapping someone VERY hard on the back. The only reason it's so well taught is the man that invented it did a lot of great PR for himself. It's also a bit easier for smaller framed people to get the necessary force in, because people are often extremely scared to hurt people, even in life threatening situations.

With larger bodied people, whether they be fat, tall, muscular, etc. If you cannot get your arms around them, literally just slap the shit out of their shoulders. You want hard, open palmed slaps right in the center of the shoulders or slightly below.

If they are too tall for you to reach that high, guide them to lean over the back of a chair, and then slap slap slap slap slap.

It's been proven to be just as effective through many studies. It just doesn't have a trademarked name and a dramatic effect in film.

If you have to do CPR on a larger bodied person, again, fat, body builder, tall and broad, whoever, the trick to finding where you want to put your hands if going to be to take your hand and shove it in their armpit. No seriously. Put your hand in their armpit, then drag it in a straight line towards yourself until you're in the center of the chest, then put your other hand beneath that one. This is where you push. Then you are going to move the arm closest to you out of the way so you can get closer to them, and get the leverage you need to press down for compressions. The more of your body weight that is over your hands, the better the compression will be. Act like you are trying desperately to pack the last of your clothes in a suitcase, and just slam down hard on their chest.

They will make *horrible* noises. You might even break ribs.

But a broken rib is better than being dead.

One day, perhaps, other CPR and First Aid instructors will actually know and teach this shit. But the medical field is filled with people who don't know, don't care, or just outright hate fat people. So while this information won't fix your complaint, I do hope it helps someone out there with saving their loved ones, should it ever be needed.

Information that will save lives.

Rest in Power, Edward Crawford.

“Crawford is the second high-profile Ferguson protestors to be found dead of gunshot wounds in recent months. Darren Seals, a well-known activist in the community, was found shot dead in a burning car on September 2016. His case remains unsolved. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, a member of the Missouri Senate, tweeted her belief that Ferguson protestors are being hunted.”

“Crawford’s father Edward Sr. told the Post-Dispatch that he died of a gunshot wound, which police are treating as self-inflicted. Crawford Sr. told the newspaper that his son had been in “good spirits,” recently, and was in the midst of training for a new job and moving in to a new apartment.”
