Distracting myself from worrying about my midterm marks by getting a start on a paper analysis for my environmental microbiology class 🐌🍃

I thought that it might be helpful to share my annotation key! I use this system all the time for my college reading, and I find it super handy in that it’s simple, uncluttered and easy to use ✨ This is especially great if you don’t like copious amounts of highlighting or you’re using a library book that you want to make as few marks as possible on. I just put small brackets (in pencil!) around the section or quote I want to highlight, and pop the corresponding icon in the margin beside it. This makes it so quick and easy to find what I’m looking for when I go back and review. 📚
Of course, this system isn’t gonna work for everyone (if you’re annotating a biology textbook, I’m not sure that agree/disagree are terribly useful - ‘I wholly disagree that the mitochondrion is the powerhouse of the cell!’) but it’s easily adjustable! The icon at the bottom is my lil versatile one that changes depending on what I’m reading, cause every book if different ❤️ In one book it might denote a definition, in another it might mark important dates etc.
Perhaps someone will find this useful! How do you guys annotate your books? ☺️
