The most memorable shot in all of TXF for me is in season 2 episode 1, when Scully is leaving her meeting with Mulder in the parking garage and she rests her hand in his hair. The garage is dark and quiet and foreboding — it’s so massive and empty that it feels almost hostile. But together they’ve found a little corner of light. Mulder is sitting on the ground, beaten down by their situation, and Scully is standing over him in a gesture that is almost parental, tender and protective. It’s a real masterclass moment; the lighting, the framing, the location itself.
