Breaking the Class Ceiling Chapter 6
This is set in early 1900s U.S.A., during the Edwardian era with some style changes into the upcoming Art Nouveau period. I've changed history a bit for this. Pretending that America didn't have a full Civil War and trying to create a more optimistic outcome for the purposes of the story. I've also tried to research what the rules for society/socializing were back then, and tweaked some of them.
Warnings for upcoming chapters: minor character death, some sexual harassment/assault (but nothing too graphic or traumatic), smut
Upon your return to Brooklyn you had immediately gone to Bucky’s house to announce your engagement to George. When he saw your hands adorned with the rings he clapped his hands and whooped triumphantly.

1 week later- Valentine’s Day
Sebastian spent all of Valentine’s day schmoozing Y/N’s family. He started with a sexy morning oral surprise for Y/N. He then woke the kids up with breakfast in bed, giving them little Valentine baskets filled with goodies, then got them ready for a whole day of activities. After a big family outing day, the kids were taken to Y/N’s parents’ house, who had had Valentine’s goodies sent to their home earlier that day as well, so he and Y/N could get ready for a fancy dinner.

Sebastian was about to leave again for a new job. He and Y/N were not worried about being apart, since they’d done it before. But Sebastian had felt a shift in their relationship since the farmer’s market incident, some kind of deeper connection if that was even possible, and he was hoping it would lead to her trusting him and feeling ready enough to open herself up to doing more physically with him. He didn’t want her to feel like he was impatient or expecting sex from her, he had just never had to wait so long for a sexual part of a relationship to start before. Valentine’s day was coming up, and he wanted to do a romantic, corny gesture for them to enjoy before he had to leave. If she was ready, he wanted it to be perfect for her.

5 months later
After that fateful day, it had been nothing but good times. The honeymoon period was in full swing, and Y/N and Sebastian took advantage of any time they had together. Sebastian unfortunately had to be on set for his next job for about 2 months after that week at Y/N’s house for the surprise visit, so they hadn’t been able to do much together in person, but they called each other every day and were constantly texting throughout each day. When the film wrapped Sebastian had gone straight back to Colorado to be with her and the kids for the holidays. Y/N had been taking a break after working consistently for about 3 years, and was looking into auditioning again after the new year. So as they spent time together during the holidays, they’d practice monologues and work on scripts their managers sent to them. They tried to have date nights in and out of the house. The ones outside the house always turned into big spectacles as people and paparazzi would follow them around, the constant clicking and flashing interrupting what would have been romantic evenings. Sebastian knew it bothered her, but she was putting on a brave face to make him happy and spend time with him. He tried to be more creative and find new or secluded places that people wouldn’t expect, but without fail there was almost always someone there that would recognize them and a crowd would quickly form. Overall it was nothing new, and they were able to handle it fine, until one day when they were all together on a family outing.

4 Weeks Later
“YOU DIDN’T!” Chris yelled right in Sebastian’s face. Anthony laughed loudly, his hand slapping the table and making the drinks slosh dangerously. Sebastian had recounted what happened on set with Y/N a few weeks before, and with a couple drinks in him, hadn’t been able to filter the story as well as he would have liked. He didn’t tell them about what she had said afterwards, though. He wanted to save that memory just for him. Chris kept staring at him with wide eyes, a look of complete astonishment on his face. Anthony finally calmed down enough to wipe away at his now-wet eyes, laughing so hard he’d started crying. “Oh my God, you, ha ha ha! I’m sorry...ha! What did she say?”

“Y/N!” Sebastian burst into her hotel room with the key card she gave him.
“Seb!” she yelled back as she came out of the bathroom, her makeup artist and hairdresser finishing getting her ready for another day of interviews on the press tour. He looked her over, her hair done in an intricate braid, her signature style on full display with her clothes and bright green wedges that made him wonder what she would look like with only them on.

Sebastian was totally screwed. He had promised himself never to fall for another costar again, and yet here he was, pining after this new, rising star of an actress, Y/N L/N, who had literally been plucked from obscurity and became an overnight acting and singing sensation. He was skeptical when he first heard from the director that there was a new character being introduced into the Marvel cinematic universe, and specifically into his character, Bucky Barnes’, storyline. Not only was he skeptical of the latecomer, but also because the director told him the actress was new to the business and had never acted in anything besides high school and college plays and musicals. But the director was excited about her, and told Sebastian she was extremely talented for having so little experience, especially with her singing. Sebastian never expected to be completely floored by her.
