Justin Chang The New Yorker It’s the warmth of Gladstone’s presence that leaves a lasting impression and endows this remake -- with all its reshufflings, inspired or strained -- with a whisper of something authentically new. Apr 25, 2025 Full Review Alonso Duralde Breakfast All Day Andrew Ahn is a humane filmmaker -- this is his fourth feature, and I think they all really work, capturing not only geographic specificity but also giving you characters who are deep and moving. Apr 22, 2025 Full Review Stephanie Zacharek TIME Magazine It’s a fun, open-hearted picture, and even if it lacks the wistful subtlety of the original, it ends up on the same landing note. Apr 21, 2025 Full Review Dana Han-Klein We're Watching What?! It's a bold move to take on an Ang Lee film to remake, but Andrew Ahn and his talented cast turn The Wedding Banquet into an even more multidimensional earnest tale with a depth the original doesn't quite delve into. Rated: 4.7/5 Apr 28, 2025 Full Review Sara Clements Peliplat This remake doesn’t simply retell Lee’s story; it expands it, deepening the themes, widening the scope, and centering the modern, multifaceted Asian American queer experience. Apr 28, 2025 Full Review Anne Brodie What She Said brings home the old saw – the truth shall set you free. Ahn’s ultra human, complicated story resonates with anyone who has felt themselves protected by misdirection – a false hope – and everyone who has learned forgiveness and optimism and patience Rated: 4/4 Apr 25, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/28/25 Full Review Ephraim Didn’t think I would. cry as much I’ve laughed seeing this movie. Loved it all from beginning to end! Hoping it gets more love at the box office and awards recognition too! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/28/25 Full Review Alan M Wonderful and touching, heartfelt stories of couple with real life issues. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/28/25 Full Review Apple C It was so cute! Different enough from the original, and modernized it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/27/25 Full Review Bill A little bit Korea heavy (esp. compared to Ang Lees original film from the 90s) but the women in this 21st century version deliver and give the production much added depth. Bowen Yang was funny and serious when he needed to be as were Joan Chen and Grandma (H)youn (sp?) Very enjoyable overall Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/27/25 Full Review Raul C It was such a heartfelt story. The premise allowed for such great character development.
