About the Editors
Chief Editor: Rachel Pei Chin Won, PhD, Springer Nature, UK
Rachel received her Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Material Science from the National University of Malaysia, and her Master Degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, where she conducted research in optical fibre sensing. She worked as an Optics Engineer in the Optical Storage R&D Department of Philips Electronics Singapore before pursuing a PhD in Engineering at Aston University, UK, focusing on microwave photonics and nonlinear optics. After completing her PhD, she joined Aston University's Business Partnership Unit as a Medici Fellow, working on the commercialization of the university's research outputs. Rachel began her editorial career in June 2006 as a Founding Editor of Nature Photonics, later becoming the journal’s Chief Editor from 2011-2014 and International Editor from 2014. In July 2025, she was appointed Chief Editor of Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering. She is also an elected Fellow of both OPTICA and the International Society of Optics and Photonics (SPIE). She is based in the London office.
Associate Editor: Miranda Vinay, PhD, Springer Nature, Germany
Miranda earned her PhD in Physical Chemistry in 2022 from the University of California, Riverside. Her research focused on devices made from high-temperature superconductors and prototypical gas sensors made from carbon nanotubes. Miranda joined editorial at Communications Engineering in February 2022, and spent 2023 on the physics team at Nature itself. She joined Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering in February 2025 in the remit of electronics and telecommunications. She is based in the Berlin office.
Associate Editor: Jiahao Liu, PhD, Springer Nature, China
Jiahao earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Adelaide, Australia, where he also conducted industrial project research. His main focus is on power and energy, involving inorganic material synthesis, device scaling-up, and real-world applications of energy storage systems. Jiahao joined Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering as an Associate Editor in August 2025, with responsibility for power and energy, and signal processing. He is based in the Shanghai office.
