I was delighted to learn from Mr. Steven Ji, the Head of App & Measurement, Google Greater China by attending the seminar - “Business Setup: Empowering Chinese Enterprises to Go Global”. In this seminar, Steven shed light on the needs for Chinese enterprises to leverage digital platforms and data to seize global opportunities. He also pointed out that the Chief Product Officer (CPO), the Chief Operation Officer (COO) and the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) would be the three indispensable roles to facilitate an enterprise to be a global brand builder. My colleague shot this video of me at the brand new HQ of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) of Thailand which is quite splendid architecturally. This was the final line of my pitch to the judges of the ASEAN Digital Awards, "www.Facticity.AI/writer is now available to help researchers automate away the drudgery of hypothesis testing, source searching, and footnoting to free them to write more credibly and creatively." Facticity.AI is a tool that people can use to quickly dig their way out from under the “avalanche of misinformation and disinformation,” which threatens to overwhelm people even more as GenAI adoption rises, especially if they are heavy users of social media platforms that ended third-party fact-checking programs. But consumers can equip themselves to be more credible writers and discerning readers on their laptops and desktops with www.Facticity.AI/writer because of the potential licentiousness of absolute free speech.

Earlier this year, I shared everything about our platform, but since then, we've made progress. Now, I want to share the performance of our platform with you. I have nothing to hide, so here are the stats. This is specifically for the hongkongvisaguide.com website, which is our primary traffic source. From May 2012 until yesterday, we've had 73,000 unique users visit the site a total of 106,000 times, resulting in 314,000 page views. On average, visitors spend about three minutes and 40 seconds on the site, viewing less than three pages per visit. This indicates that users can find answers to their questions within a few clicks. In terms of traffic sources, 52% comes from Google organic search, and we don't pay for any traffic. Another 18% comes from direct visits or organic sources. The Hong Kong Visa Handbook contributes 5% of our traffic, LinkedIn accounts for 4%+, and the Hong Kong Visa Center contributes 3.5%. Our email subscriptions drive 3.2% of traffic, followed by Facebook and Forbes articles at around 2% each. Google is by far our most significant traffic source, delivering almost all of our traffic. Over this time period, we've generated $2 million in revenues, with the last twelve months alone yielding $1 million. Considering our video-centric content, our YouTube views stand at about 70,000, reflecting the size of our tribe, which we estimate to be around 70,000 strong. #immigrationinnovation #intelligentcontentmarketing

Addressing Challenges with Tencent Cloud’s Domain Purchase Policies As a foreign professional residing in China, I have encountered significant challenges while attempting to purchase a domain through Tencent Cloud. It appears that their current policies do not allow foreigners to directly buy domains within China unless a Chinese national is listed. Moreover, the international portal (English version) requires complete organizational information and contact details from a foreign country, making the process even more restrictive. This raises questions about the inclusivity and flexibility of such policies. For global tech giants like Tencent and Alibaba, who aim to expand their footprint internationally, it is vital to align their policies with the needs of the diverse business community, including the many expatriates running businesses in China. Offering equitable access and flexible services would undoubtedly enhance their global reputation and foster greater collaboration. On a related note, the policies of WeChat for foreigners present even greater hurdles, further highlighting the need for improvement in this space. I hope these companies review their policies to create a more inclusive and seamless experience for all users. Expats, entrepreneurs, and businesses of all backgrounds deserve equitable opportunities to thrive.

This improvement highlights the city’s strengths in Technology (ranked 3rd) and Knowledge (ranked 5th), supported by advanced infrastructure, widespread smartphone penetration, and a highly educated workforce. What do China’s richest man (Zhang Yiming, founder of ByteDance) and Lee Kuan Yew (first PM of Singapore) have in common? They’re both Hakka! Referred to as the “Guest people” or kejiaren (客家人) in Chinese, the Hakka are one of the main Han subgroups of Fujian and Guangdong provinces. Zhang Yiming doesn’t even live in China anymore: he relocated to Singapore earlier this year. Like Lee Kuan Yew’s ancestors and those of many other Singaporeans, Zhang is a Hakka seeking greater stability in Southeast Asia amidst unpredictable circumstances in Mainland China. From Reform and Opening Up through the early 2000s, over 70% of FDI in China came from the Chinese diaspora - especially the Cantonese, Hakka, Teochew, Hokkien, and Hokchew subgroups from Fujian and Guangdong provinces. The very people responsible for kickstarting China’s economic miracle now find themselves increasingly shunned. Understanding the political and cultural undertones of China’s commercial and technological power requires accounting for the role of these southeastern subgroups in driving the Middle Kingdom’s economic development forward.
