Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) is a private limited company wholly owned by the Scottish Ministers and responsible for the management and operation of 11 regional airports located at: Barra, Benbecula, Campbeltown, Dundee, Inverness, Islay, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Sumburgh, Tiree and Wick John O’Groats. Working with our stakeholders, we are committed to supporting the essential socio-economic role of aviation in Scotland by maintaining and developing our airports and the connections they provide for some of our country’s more remote communities. Our mission is to create social benefit and economic prosperity by building Scotland’s sustainable regional airport group of the future. This is reinforced by our vision to become a ‘net-zero carbon regional airport group’.

Today is Earth Day, which brings together over a billion people worldwide to act for the planet. This year’s themes, The Great Global Cleanup and Our Power, Our Planet, focus on healthy communities and the shift to renewable energy. At HIAL, we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact. In our most recent Strategic Plan, we shared progress including an energy audit to inform our Renewable Energy Transition Plan, Climate Change Risk Assessments across all our airports, an airside carbon reduction programme, and a mapped decarbonisation schedule for airport vehicles and equipment. Following an internal promotion and a retirement, we have reviewed our current structure and created three new Director positions within the Operational Management Team: ➡️Director of Airport Operations ➡️Director of Operational Support ➡️Director of Safety and Compliance Each Director role has a salary of £91,530 per annum. All roles are based at Head Office, Inverness, but the successful candidate may be based within daily travelling distance of any HIAL airport. Regular travel to Head Office, and our other locations, is required. You’ll have a proven track record of operating at a senior level within the aviation industry, coupled with a strong knowledge in in one of the key disciplines relevant to each role. As an ambassador for HIAL you will have excellent interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills and experience of managing relationships with key partners and customers. Team working is crucial to this role as is a positive, flexible, and collaborative approach to balance conflicting and changing pressures. Strong financial acumen is also required. In return we offer a great benefits package, including an excellent company pension, generous annual leave entitlement, a staff benefits package, and an employee assistance programme.
