See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

tumblr will talk about being kind to animals and loving them and saving the spider and putting it outside all day but veganism is where they draw the line. god forbid you have consistent morals and take a step back to unpack your speciesism. god forbid the vegans may be right. god forbid there’s more to being nice to animals than petting them and finding them cute.

  3. lanthasmenos said: @acti-veg i’ve been trying to do more research lately and get more informed on other things than what i mainly stick to, thank you! i apologize
  4. acti-veg said: @lanthasmenos It’s fine, I’d encourage you to learn more about it because veganism is incredibly inclusive and accessible, there are lots of vegans who can’t quite eat 100% plant based but are still vegans, because it really isn’t about perfection. Veganism is about striving to oppose animal exploitation and cause less harm, that is really all we are trying to do.
  5. lanthasmenos said: @acti-veg i’ve seen it referred to as that, but i was using the stereotypical meaning because it’s more common. i heavily apologize ^_^ /gen
  6. acti-veg said: @lanthasmenos It is less that it’s rude and more that it’s a bit perplexing as a vegan to be constantly told what veganism means by people who don’t belong to this community and have almost never done any real research on it. Had the people saying this stuff read into the philosophy for even two minutes before leaping to argue against it it is the very first concept they’d have come across.
  7. lanthasmenos said: @acti-veg sorry if that sounded rude i have just never seen it been referred to as that😭 i was using the main one people commonly use, not that
  8. lanthasmenos said: @acti-veg i was using the main, widespread concept of veganism. of strictly not eating things that come from animals.
  9. acti-veg said: @lanthasmenos Please look up the Vegan Society’s own definition of what veganism actually means: “"Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.” That means that everyone should do their best to avoid animal exploitation as far as is possible and practicable. We all know that some people have real barriers to eating plant based, but the fact that we’re omnivores is completely morally irrelevant when we’re talking about veganism.
  10. lanthasmenos said: @bazingollo i am currently writing a research project on the negative impacts on the human body with veganism. you are not understanding my point, i may have worded my original comment differently than i intended- but i am restating what i said. i NEVER said animals were unfeeling resources, and i do try to limit my intake of meat and animal products. natural never means ethical, but it is a normal thing and ethical arguments cannot exist without nature.
  11. bazingollo said: @lanthasmenos anyways the rape comparison was pointing out the flaw in your “it’s natural” argument, not comparing it to eating meat. lots of things are “natural” in the animal kingdom that we don’t use to justify our own ethics. also I see we’re shifting the goalposts now. first your argument was it’s natural for humans to eat meat. but when I pointed out that natural doesn’t mean ethical you immediately jumped to the “deficiencies” argument. the idea that people need meat to survive is a is a myth in developed countries. Name one of these deficiencies and problems that can only be solved by meat. or are you talking about B12? do you know the B12 in meat is usually from supplements they feed the livestock? vegans just take the supplement directly. It’s the same thing, minus the dead animal. or are you talking about protein? iron? beans, lentils, tofu, nuts, spinach, ever heard of those? And seriously, I am the one undermining the intelligence of animals? Me? The entire vegan argument is built around animal’s intelligence and their capacity to feel and therefore to suffer, which is why we think killing them we have other options is unjustifiable. you’re the one treating them like they’re just unfeeling resources and have no regard for their intelligence. if you believe a few minutes of taste pleasure for you is worth more than an animal’s entire existence, at least be honest about it.
  12. lanthasmenos said: @lanthasmenos without meat**
  13. lanthasmenos said: @bazingollo ? okay so to begin with comparing eating with rape is entirely different . and i am not saying that is right, im saying that some people CANNOT survive with meat. people have deficiencies and problems, and need specific food to survive. and it seems you are undermining the intelligence and capability of non-human animals. it is great we have plant alternatives yes, and the meat and animal industry is flawed, but there is necessity in meat to some people.
  14. bazingollo said: @lanthasmenos Just because we are biologically omnivores doesn’t mean we should eat meat from an ethical standpoint. That’s a leap from a biological fact to a moral claim. Many things are naturally occurring that we don’t consider ethical. like rape for example. “animals eat animals, so we can too” false equivalence. Animals act on instinct and survival, they don’t have moral agency, access to supermarkets, or the capacity for ethical reasoning. Again, basing our morality on what happens in the animal kingdom is a flawed standard. You completely ignore the core ethical viewpoint that the act of killing a sentient being for food and personal gratification when we have plant based alternatives.
  15. lanthasmenos said: im not a vegan, never will be. however, i fully support (most) of them. humans ARE omnivores, we are animals as well. we SHOULD be eating meat. we eat animals, animals eat animals, ext. how we get the meat is the problem. not the fact we eat meat (not against this post!! just adding on)
