14% fewer foreign overnight stays than last March
In March, accommodation establishments reported just over 305,000 tourist arrivals and 768,000 overnight stays, both 9% fewer than a year ago. Domestic tourists spent the largest number of their nights in municipalities Piran, Podčetrtek and Brežice, and foreign in Ljubljana, Piran and Bled.

0.3% population increase in 2024
In 2024, the population increased by over 6,900. On 1 January 2025, foreign citizens represented 10.1% of the 2,130,850 residents of Slovenia.

According to provisional data for the 4th quarter of 2024, natural decrease of population (−1,286) and positive net migration (3,084) were recorded.

Less meat gained than the month before
About 3,400,000 poultry, 15,600 pigs and 7,400 cattle were slaughtered in Slovenian slaughterhouses in February. In this way, about 6,100 tonnes of poultry meat, 1,500 tonnes of pig meat, and 2,200 tonnes of bovine meat were gained.

At the beginning of the school year 2024/25, 82,412 children were attending kindergartens, 195,704 basic school and 83,839 upper secondary school.

Last year, there were 944,008 persons in employment in Slovenia, which was the highest number ever. Compared to the year before, there were 14% fewer job vacancies. At the end of last year, about 510,000 persons in employment worked in another municipality.

Confidence slightly up, except in trade
Confidence in manufacturing, services and construction increased in April, while in retail trade it decreased. In manufacturing, enterprises will invest more in land, building and infrastructure and in intangible assets.
